To pull off some of the most sensational aerial stunts ever seen in a movie, Tom Cruise trained the cast of “Top Gun: Maverick” (2022) to fly while the crew captured footage from the cockpit using a groundbreaking Imax camera setup.
To be safely involved in the highway chase in “The Batman” (2022), Robert Pattinson and Colin Farrell either rode in camera cars driven by stunt drivers or sat on a rig in front of LED screens. Then, with “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (2022) and “Thor: Love and Thunder” (2022), Marvel movies pushed technological boundaries, while their stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chris Hemsworth, and Christian Bale could be hoisted into the air thanks to wires and tuning forks.
For “Bullet Train” (2022), the crew built moving train-car models on set, and Brad Pitt was later placed into a CG-built exploding train. But the real surprise breakout action film of the year was “Everything Everywhere All at Once” (2022). Using specially created props, the film gave Ke Huy Quan a killer fanny pack. And thanks to hidden wirework, Jamie Lee Curtis could fly in the air and Michelle Yeoh could look like she was delivering powerful blows with just one pinky.
Own “The Batman” now on digital and 4K ultra HD.

I love the behind the scenes stuff. I wish they would include a side by side version of the movie (during home releases), with the finished effects, and then one without it. It would be cool to see what the movie looked like before post production.

Damn… Where is a risk? Where is a passion? You cannot trick the human’s eye. How can I trust the scene if it bends the laws of physics? Or to an actor is deeply calm when normal person’s heart would be pumping 200+ per minute? Oh, see the guy jumping from box to box falling out of the plane with a heroic face? Cool, right…? So, to made below the truck slide from “The Raiders of The Lost Ark” today you need what… A mat, a whip and LED backscreen? Where is a sense of fear you can just feel with your guts seeing how Jackie Chan is jumping on a pole and sliding 3 floors down a row? French Connection, Gone In 60 Seconds, Mad Max, To Live and Die in L.A. - the very short list of what I have in my mind remembering awesome and REALISTIC car chases. Instead of all of that there is 9th or 10th Fast and Furious with some car flying into space. What. The. F*ck. For me and a lot of people those films now look like those old ones when a guy was driving his car turning a steering wheel and doing a pokerface with a screen behind him 🤦‍♂️ Sh*t, sh*t, sh*t…
