Now I am super curious about how mortgages, real estate taxes and all that stuff works in London because 500 / month on a 385K place seems extremely low. Wish mine was that low!

I worked it out that it would have been around 200k deposit, depending on the length of the mortgage and the interest rate.

@@MultiLoginaI was a first time buyer last year, my flat cost 265k and my deposit was 93k, with the longest mortgage term possible (35 years) a 1.5% interest rate...and my mortgage is about £530pcm. Her salary won't determine the mortgage payment amount though; having a higher than average salary would just mean she could borrow more, which would make her mortgage payment higher. I think she's probably borrowed about 4.5 times her salary, which would be about 180k (if we're gonna go on the low end at 40k) or so, and with a long term and low interest rate (she would be within the 40% loan to value so would have the lowest interest rates available) her mortgage would indeed be circa £500. But we don't need to have an idea of her salary to be able to determine how much was borrowed, and i don't think being a first time buyer could lower her mortgage payments unless she bought it using help to buy equity loan, like Hannah Witton did (her mortgage payments cost less than what she paid to rent a room in London). However, she said the previous owner had been there years and it clearly isn't a new build so wouldn't come under that scheme. But I would guess she probably earns a fair bit, is clearly from London so probably lived with her family and was able to save and invest, hence having a huge deposit!

What a beautiful flat! Poss the best I have seen! I love gold fixtures and fittings. ✨ V stylish! But I am curious to know how her monthly mortgage deal is so cheap at £500 per month? Or is it an interest only mortgage? Either way beautiful flat.

This is a beautiful flat and the improvements that have been made are incredible. I do have to echo a lot of other sentiments about the £500p/m repayments though. I think the deposit was around 250k or perhaps a shared ownership scheme as this in no way reflects what the cost would be if you had a standard 10% deposit. More power to her though as it’s a lovely flat in a fab area! X

Loved this look at a London flat and especially the little look around the neighborhood. Could you possibly address transportation next time you do one of these? Like, how would you get to this neighborhood from central London? How would you get to the major train stations from here? Thanks!

It sort of depends on where you are going. For Vanessa's flat there is London Fields overground station about a 5 minute walk, or in 15 min she can walk to Bethnal Green tube station. There are also a lot of buses in the area going to various parts of the city. Thanks for watching!

I keep trying to find a place in London to buy but there is always some really odd feature. I looked at a place in Greenwich and it was stunning 4m GBP was designed by a famous naval architect, had an amazing garden but there were no bathrooms downstairs. All the bathrooms were upstairs in the bedrooms. It seemed weird to have company over and have them go through your bedrooms to use restroom. Odd.. gb

385K is very cheap. You're right what you said about the East End becoming more desirable, that's because of the 2012 Olympics, it's become a very trendy place to live with all the investment over the years.

I am happily settled in Laindon for 237K decent sized(1000 sqft) 3 bed house near the station which I bought in 2018 . Monthly mortgage of 971 GBP. Direct train to fenchurch street, new Laindon high street , ofsted 'outstanding' primary school , 3 stops away from beach and what more can I ask!
