I'm with Ron. Sweet! One of my old friends that passed years ago. John Fraley built mandolins and played this song. Two things he was known for. What a friend, I have in Jesus. It's a real and personal thing. Thanks Russ. And thank you Jesus for dying for me.

The man who composed this song, Charles Crozat Converse, was the brother of one of the most prolific banjo players of the 19th century, Frank B. Converse. Frank played and taught the “stroke” style (now called clawhammer) as well as fingerstyle. Charles studied composition in Europe with Franz Liszt and wrote a guitar method book before becoming a successful lawyer. He died in 1918.
