The best break up album ever, with apologies to Fleetwood Mack. This song IS a masterpiece. The Blood On The Tracks album has no bad tracks, and so many gems. Tangled Up In Blue, Lily, Rosemary & the Jack of Hearts, Idiot Wind, You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome, all perfect. And you are correct, his writing is riddled with Biblical references.✌️❤️🎶

Dylan's writing is full of Biblical references right from the beginning of his career. It is clear that he was very well acquainted with the Bible writings from the time he was quite young, and it gives a lot of strength and depth to his writing, because the Bible is the single most foundational document of western civilization. This is also the case with Leonard Cohen's writing, and I suggest that you investigate his song catalogue at some point too.
