Excellent example of ushiro geri. No tension, no "tell" prior to kick, and no unnecessary activity. Pure spin. The power is seen in the deformation of the pad on impacted. I preach what seperates Japanese karate from other other combat sports is the efficency of motion. Hiyori sensei is an excellent example of that.

The point of her kick isn't even for power, it's honed to the point of being used as any other common punch or kick used in combinations. Fluid, non-telegraphed, and immediate recovery for a follow up or to counter. Even a miss let's her still be ready, as opposed to a power shot that misses.

歩いてても気配がないって、少なくともどこかある点では古の達人の領域にあるのでは。それが秘伝めかしたり踏ん張った言い方じゃなくて、子供が遊んでるような感覚で、めっちゃカジュアルな雰囲気なのが面白い。

Hiyori's impressive. And the fact that she's tall (looks to be around 5'7" or 5'8") must mean she gets more leverage, which likely enables her to generate more power.

reminder: martial arts are meant for weak people to defend themselves against stronger people. So let's say you tried to attack this woman, her ushiro geri might not send you flying but it will give you a second thought before attacking her again.

Sorry.. but her kick is pretty weak, and slow. Watch the famous kickboxer "Benny the Jet", to see a spin kick that is almost as fast as a Jab. His kicks have caused several Knockouts. Another powerful spin kick, is from Joe Rogan. When he kicks the bag, is sounds like a gun going off. What you have to work on, is developing more Fast-Twitch muscle fibers... by twisting / spinning the hips as quickly as possible, repeatedly, in speed drills. You can start out by coiling your hips, and then quickly uncoiling... instead of doing the full spinning motion. Once your speed gets good at this small movement... then you can add larger movements into your drills.

Yes. Exactly what I was thinking but there is the "she is a woman so we can't say anything about it" factor here. Same factors apply to women and men for a powerful back kick and what we see here isn't close to how powerful the kick can be. It's patronizing to women to say that the kick on the video is "powerful" when it really isn't, even for a woman

Martial arts are meant for weak and small people to defend themselves despite their weaknesses, she is a great example of that and you should ventilate your behind and wash it for a while before being such a dumass.
