Avi is absolutely amazing. He is very eclectic. From Full Moon and Song For The Thankful which are relaxing to Get Down and Change On the Rise that are rock out and everything in between Avi’s beautiful voice will inspire. It’s a beautiful rabbit hole to go down💚💚💚💚💚Thanks for your reaction

From the very first song that I ever heard by Pentatonix, I fell in love with Avi's voice. His lyrics and voice touch me deep in my soul. Avi's music is amazing, and I haven't heard a song that I didn't love. He pours his heart and soul into his songs, and that's why it touches the listener the same way. I highly recommend you listen to "All is Well -- 7 Layers Session," and "When I'm a Fool --Live at Sunset Sound" to start your journey.

When Avi sings you feel like your best friend has come to you and understands you, loves you, hugs you, gives you strength and comfort. There will never be the right words for the full extent that Avis makes music for us. My advice. Just start at the beginning and don't miss a song on the way to what Avi has in store for us in the future.

Avi is a classically/operatically trained vocalist. A couple of days before being offered the bass position with Pentatonix, he had received an offer from the Las Angeles Opara House. He gave up the sure thing for the A Capella group. He made the correct choice, and was and is the bass out there, but 6 years of the constantly being on the go, brought back up his anxiety and depression issues. Then his mother was re-diagnosed with cancer and his world began to crumble around him. He left the group, returned to California to visit with his parents then camped with a buddy for quite awhile. He then headed to Israel to visit his brother and spent time hiking the Galilee. He had purchased land and a cabin in the forested mountains of Tennessee near Nashville. He wrote music but stayed mostly secluded. He is not claim to be a social animal, and much prefers being in his cabin and wandering his land than socializing with people. Avi is also the brainchild in the forming of an international A Capella youth choir A Capella Academy. His vocal range is 5+ octaves and he is a unique Overtone singer which means he can sing two notes at once. Avi Kaplan is a hugely talented musician, song writer and a wonderful man.

What a great reaction! I like to say Avi has a song for every mood. His music always speaks to relatable issues. His message is always one of hope and fighting through it. His music is powerful and gentle at the same time. To experience a fighting back song I suggest Change on the Rise or for a rousing jam with wonderful musicians When I'm a Fool live at Sunset Sound studios. Subscribed and cheers!

Welcome to the Avi rabbit hole! You are truly in for a treat! Avi is an amazing singer-songwriter, who has been very open about his struggle with anxiety and depression. I think you’ll enjoy “I’ll Get By”, “Try to Get it Right”, “It Knows Me” (and all the rest!) Avi has a generous and mature soul, and he was raised on 60s and 70s folk music. And yes, his music is very calming…he sings me to sleep most nights. Subbed to follow your Avi journey. 🥰

I love James Taylor as well and Avi absolutely checks all the boxes for my love of singer songwriters. He is amazing. He had a whole EP released under the name Avriel and the Sequioas which was several amazing songs. I am partial to Sweet Adeline which he did a follow up to on his next EP and it would be interesting to see you react to them back to back. Really, you can't go wrong with any of his music.

I loved you’re reaction, love that you got so in depth with Avi’s lyrics. That’s the almost magical beauty of his music, it’s so powerful yet so relatable and simple. I hope you react to more of his songs, Quarter past four (released as Avriel and the Sequoias), I’ll get by, Chains and All is well are all in the same genre of mental health and Change on the rise and Only getting started are fantastic “fighting” songs!

I'd definitely recommend "Quarter Past Four" after listening to your reaction to Avi. It was written and released before his departure from Pentatonix in 2017, and also speaks to struggles and hurt. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/osWkZLmAypatmHk.html (About 90% of Avi's music is original, by the way.) A few suggestions for more songs, “I’ll get by”, “All is well” (the recording from a 7 Layers Session in a small church in the Netherlands) and “I’m only getting started”. It is always wonderful to see Avi's voice, lyrics, and soul truly touch someone. While talking about hard things and struggle in many of his song, I feel that his voice and presence never fail to leave you with an underlying sense of hope - of not being alone. Yes, "I'm Only Getting Started" is another great song by Avi. Also, I would echo "Quarter Past Four" (as Avriel and the Sequoias), "All is Well" from the seven layers sessions, "When I'm a Fool: Live from Sunset Sound," and, gosh, everything else everyone has already recommended (including just reacting to everything Avi). He is, indeed, a fan of John Denver. He does shorts on Instagram and Facebook that are covers. When he recently asked for suggestions to cover, many people requested Cat Stevens' "Morning Has Broken." Personally, I asked for "Father and Son". I do get the Cat Stevens echoes (while still remaining firmly himself). His Folk/Americana/country/blues vibe just speaks to me.

Yes, Avi is amazingly good! The timbre of his voice wraps around your being, you don't simply hear Avi Kaplan's music, you feel it. His eclectic blend of Americana/folk/soul/Avi creates a unique blend that only Avi can create. There is no one style that sums up his work. Listen to his powerful original video "Change On The Rise" ; then his hauntingly beautiful "Avi Kaplan, All Is Well, 7 Layers Sessio # 126" follow up with his jamming "When I'm A Fool, Live at Sunset Sound" . And catch this man in concert! He is kind to his fans, is humble, personable, real! And he puts on an unforgettable show. Newly subbed, more Avi, please!

Avi left Pentatonix in 2017 then spent a year recovering his mental health. His first EP 'I'll Get By' has a number of songs that chart his recovery. 'Chains' and 'The Summit' were probably when he was at his lowest, then the title track itself and what has become his anthem 'Change on the Rise' show him recovering. He is in a much better place now and his latest LP 'Floating On a Dream' is amazing. You don't just hear an Avi song, you feel it. If your reaction to this song is anything to go by, you are going to be another one of his dedicated fans. Welcome!

After listening to your personal experience, I have a couple of appropriate recommendations for you, I think. The first is his original song (and 90% of what he does are originals) "Chains", which is dramatic and speaks to his struggles with anxiety and depression.
