That last little bit of encouragement for high schoolers and pre-meds was exactly what I’ve needed to hear! I’m in my pre med years and although I don’t hate the content, it’s all a stepping stone toward the bigger picture. Love you videos xx

When I was in crunch time periods of my life I kept quick grab super healthy food on hand that was nutrient loaded, fast and that filled me up. the packed nutrient rich foods kept my stress low. I did heavy whole grain loaves of bread, thick peanut butter on the slices 2, slices twice a day, apples, handfuls of nuts and any kind of real fruit a good sized amount sliced and in grab bags. I always had the nuts with the fruit to keep my blood sugar from plummeting. It’s the best way to fuel. I’m a small girl but I metabolized it quickly because of all the stress. Best diet plan ever for high stress. At night if I felt I didn’t get enough grains in and was having trouble sleeping, I would have a cup of oatmeal.

Loved this! I am premed and really loving emergency med, but I think a lot of what draws me to it is how it is portrayed in the media. I love the show ER and I know it's prolly greatly diff to emergency medicine irl so could u maybe create a video sometime comparing the two? Or if not to the show ER in particular, maybe just telling how emergency medicine is diff in reality than how it is portrayed. Thanks 🤗

Hi a question. I’m currently a sophomore in highschool. I chose my classes for junior year they consist of: Ap Lang Ap spanish Ap psych Ap chemistry Anatomy/physiology Pre-Calculus Will these help for pre med? Also, how do you manage your time school, studying, working out, and working? What do you do for money during school? I love your videos! Keep up the good work!
@angieawx4839
@angieawx4839 6 жыл бұрын
Jesús Hernandez honestly I think your high school courses matter less when going down a pre-med track. It's more important to take those courses during undergraduate as that is the critical time for fulfilling the prerequisites for medical school. However, taking those courses now will help you be a little bit more prepared for when you get the college as you will have some background knowledge on some of the courses. I hope I helped! :)

Hi, I’m in the same grade as you and I took an online medical terminology duel credit college course class. I also am taking ap physiology next year. I’m in hosa? Does your school have that club? We go to medical competition and practice different specialties. If you do I think that would be great to join it’s really fun and there are scholarships!

Also forgot to say, you asked about money. And taking a course through my local college in my senior year so I can get a phlebotomy license. It’s all paid for though my high school, maybe you could look if there’s something like that. I’m going to work as a phlebotomist in the summers after high school and though college to help pay for med school!

Passing on information / communication skills is soo important. I went to see a new general physician doctor as I'd sprained my ankle and the pain wasn't going away with RICE and she can me no treatment plan, sent me to get an ultrasound then never contacted me to say that nothing with wrong with the ultrasound/ what I should do about the ankle. I had to run it up myself with reception. So I'm left to figure out how to treat my injury myself.
@nataliatrehan6251
@nataliatrehan6251 6 жыл бұрын
The general rule is that they will call if it's bad news, but not call if it's okay. With a sprained ankle, honestly there's not really anything they can do either. It's a sprain. They usually take care of patients based on seriousness. And a sprain, annoying and somewhat painful doesn't usually qualify as a great level of seriousness - because it's not even a ligament tear or a fracture (Even hairline) However, as someone who has had multiple torn ligaments, a hairline fracture, and quite a few sprains, I get your frustration. Honestly, all you can do is RICE and trying to be patient (way easier said then done). And when your foot feels a bit better, strengthening exercise.
@ChelseaJeanBentley
@ChelseaJeanBentley 6 жыл бұрын
Yes I understand that as someone who has training in clinical science. The doctor never communicated that she'd only call if its bad news. So for someone with no idea especially seeing as they'd been referred elsewhere, it could be incredibly confusing. The doctor told me she thought it was achilles tendonitis but never said if I was supposed to keep RICEing it or any other sort of treatment. I just dislike doctors that don't take the time to explain these things to patients that might not understand you know?
@nataliatrehan6251
@nataliatrehan6251 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I absolutely agree with you. I've had really horrible issues with doctors in the past year/ seen not the greatest things, which make you really disillusioned with the medical field, but honestly just make me want to be a better doctor to implement change. Especially as you mentioned that it was a new GP - I know personally for me, my usual family doctors are used to me doing my own research and everything, so they don't need to go into a lot of details or anything. But definitely, communication is extremely important. Have you called the dr's office back and asked for instructions? (Just to sort of let them know you haven't really received any).
@ChelseaJeanBentley
@ChelseaJeanBentley 6 жыл бұрын
yes I called them back and they said nothing is amiss with the ultrasound and the doctor had no instructions to give me. I think I'll just book an appointment with my family physician if I still have problems in a week or so but if I would have expected the doctor to have directed me to a physio (as I said I'm an athlete who is prone to rolling my ankles) or at least said to keep RICEing it and come back if the pain continues. You know just a plan of attack of some sort.

Idil H if you don’t love it, then you won’t be able to dedicate 12 years to it. Maybe try something related in the field if you don’t think you can complete the program. You can go into physio, imaging, or nursing, all of which require less schooling.
