What about the Charismatic Movement?

What is the Charismatic Movement? What about the "baptism of the Holy Spirit," speaking in tongues, and other signs and wonders? Should Christians seek them or does our Triune God come to us another way? Finally, what do the Scriptures say about all this?

In Galatians, Paul says "But Tge Fruit if The Spirit is Love, Jot, Peace, Long Suffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Temperance (in later buble translations Self Control(, against these these things there is no law. This verse along with Philippians 4:7-8 can tie in to the spiritual gifts discusdion.

To think that the baptism of Holy Ghost was only for that day, nullifies God's Promise to fallen man. Acts 2:39 says "For the promise is unto you, and your children, and to all, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." Is God still calling today????? If not, then why even preach the message of SALVATION?

If I remember correctly, Paul said there should not be speaking in tongues unless someone was there to interpret.

There is a baptism of the Holy Spirit or you can call it an in dwelling of the Holy Spirit. I believe it’s a problem with semantics. Cornelius is a perfect example of receiving the Holy Spirit separate from water baptism. And it also shows the order is not important just in case legalisms want to claim the rituals have to happen a certain way. I have a huge problem with infant baptism, though, because it is faith that saves you and a baby has no capacity to voluntarily opt for Christ’s message.

@@AskThePastor a household does NOT necessarily include children and infants. You can’t hang your entire theological argument on that IMO.

I don't hang the entire argument on that fact. It hinges on Jesus' command to baptize all nations, with no age limits on the command. That being said, there's no reason to think households did not include infants and children, especially when they included slaves and servants.

@@AskThePastor The Jews also presented infants at 8 days old. I believe this foreshadows Baptism. Babies were circumcised, they did not wait until a baby grew up.

@@kkdoc7864 A typical household would have included children. There was not birth control. IF you were married you were having children.

I've always understood these gifts as apostolic gifts. Meaning only the apostles operated in these gifts. Am I understanding this correctly?

Based on what we see in Acts and 1 Corinthians, they seem to have been given to various Christians at various times. But after the apostolic era they seem to have ceased.
