Something that helps me to feel like I actually get to know the place i go, is having a list of things i like and try to find those wherever I go, apart from the list of things i am supposed to see in that state/city. For example, for me some of those are: a great view, breakfast and art; so if i don't get to see the most touristic spots but i do get to find those, is a game changer and i really feel like i experience that new city/state. Can't wait to see you living this 50 states journey 💕

I did a small taste of van living with my senior cat last summer and found a cooling mat that always stays cool and a small air cooler that plugged into my cigarette lighter, just fill it up with water, park in the shade and have window shades to keep the sun from beating in and my cat had a nice chilly van to chill out in on hot Wisconsin summer days for a 2-3 hours. A small personal fan and she was set. I even had it set up with barriers on my pop out windows so she couldn't get out and the breeze could get in. When I parked at a friend's place I had mosquito netting so that the side door could be opened and she could come and go at will. Sure beats the days spent driving around with the AC on just to keep her cool. Vanlife, all about adapting and of course making our furr babies comfortable.

"Never leave dishes in the sink overnight" is something I once read and have always lived by! Great video!

I've been to 48 states missing North Dakota and Montana and all I can say is GO FOR IT!!! Ths US has sooo much to see and in your van you would get so much more out of every visit then I did.

Utah is a beautiful state, I was stationed there twice and loved it!

I've been struggling with that question the past year too. "What's next?" I still haven't figured it out. Seeing all 50 states is a great goal for you. You'll be alright. You'll figure it out. Go slow and be in the moment. It'll be a good adventure.

I started going in my van to all the national parks and states in 2016 , Ive been to 49 states and 60 national parks. U can do it , keep going.

Zion is a beautiful place… was there once… will never forget that place!

New England in the Fall is stunning! We have a lot of forested land up here and the colors in the Fall are breathtaking. Summers can be very humid. The shoreline is very different from the western shoreline but has its very own beauty. I live in a historical town known for its whaling back in the day and I m very close to one river and fairly close to 3 or 4 others river. By fairly close I m talking 10 minutes to 45 minutes to get to them depending. The other is just a couple minutes away. All these rivers have various waterways, marshes, coves, etc and all lead to the Long Island Sound. I think you will love exploring New England! A cheap kayak, a good life jacket for you and Finn will add to your enjoyment.

P. S. I would advise making the trips to different states seasonal. Northern States in spring/summer, Southern Fall/winter. It's 84° in San Antonio Texas here. Unless you want to do something like my aunt in Vermont. She goes Snowshoeing and lables trees with ribbon for historical tree stuff. The trip from Arkansas to Illinois in fall is beautiful! Lots of foliage color changes!

I'm watching your video now and bawling because I feel the same way as I am about to start my journey with my dog in my new vintage trailer. I have always planned on traveling after my parents died but I didn't plan on how hard it is to let go and say goodbye. I am going to see all 50 states and I keep visualizing myself everytime I'm on a freeway. I am leaving behind my childhood home and my parents things. It's hard and scary and I keep saying as soon as I have everything ready but that might never happen. Atlanta native here. Go check out Amicalola Falls when you get here. And for Arkansas, Whitaker Point/Hawksbill Crag is the most magical place I have been east of the Rockies. And the whole northwest Arkansas area is nice as well. I've driven from Fort Smith to Bentonville during sunset several times, and the rolling hills there were absolutely gorgeous. You should check out that area

Zion. One of our favorite national parks we haven’t been in a 5 years but are spending thanksgiving week there. Glad you decided to start visiting the national parks.

One of your best videos yet! All 50 states is a major aspiration. I'll start with the western states in the summer of 2022. Once I'm satisfied with my travels in the west, I'll think about heading east (scarier).

Zion is incredible! It was probably my favorite National Park (visited about 10 this summer.) I've been traveling for about 6 months myself and just went to a few of the exact spots you were at in this video just a couple weeks ago. The views were amazing and tons of open dispersed camping. If you're still there, a short hike where Finn could safely be in the van, is the parking lot immediately after the Mt Carmel Tunnel. It's called Canyon Overlook Trail and is only about a mile, but the views are worth it and it's a fun little hike. There's obviously Angels Landing, but that takes hours and is a bit intense 😳 Just found your channel about a week ago and am enjoying watching your journey. Keep up the great work!

I Have been to All 50 States before 1999! Great Goal!

Its so exciting to see you excited about something and so happy. When you get to Pennsylvania, lmk and I'll tell you places to camp and see. All the state forests have dispersed camping htat you can actually reserve for free.

Your videos tell such a great story. The east coast is great specifically new england. Im sure you will love it here. Explore the non touristy places.

Try going to a few music festivals next summer. You can usually get a job working at the festival. Works a few hours a day then rest of the day off.

Hit those National Parks. Yes, they're full of people, and people can definitely suck, but there's a reason they're there - the places are worth seeing. If you can manage to avoid the crowds, which is a big advantage of being in the van, you're gonna love it. And definitely go east. The east is like another planet, it's so different. Can't wait to see what you find. Safe travels.

Back in the day i was in a band and i had the privilege of touring the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and a dozen countries in Europe. it was amazing and i saw a lot but it was rushed... we would drive to new states everyday and play a show and leave, so the irony is i never really got to SEE anything.... so my dream is to buy a stealth van and do it all again, and take my time... :)

I don't know about getting to Hawaii but the other 49 seem doable. So far I'm up to 38 (never been to the Northeast), but doing it and vlogging about each will be a goal that will be a great experience. The eastern U.S. is so hard to find boondocking, but with a van (I have a 20 ft. class c) it's a little easier to be stealthy. I think you'll have a great time. I did all of the Utah N.P.s back in 2017, it's so cool. Greenlights, it's a sign - go forward. Got to meet Matthew McConaughey as he brought his family to Yellowstone (my current home) to see wolves last Winter (funny I kinda didn't know who he was at the time).

This internet stranger says “go for it.” In Mississippi, if you’re up north hit Tishamingo state park. If you’re on i20, Roosevelt state park is nice. And there’s also some great ocean view sites on the gulf on i10 if you come through that way.
