When you are a child of God walking on the path as a true disciple of Jesus, you are and will be at war against the rulers, the authorities, and powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil. Satan set the stage for all of us on Earth because of our free will that God has blessed us with. The devil knows that we are weak so He tempts us with the sins of the flesh to get your soul.
