A small correction. India doesn't have any national language. English and Hindi are used for official purposes. Hindi is not a national language. India has 22 scheduled languages. We don't have any national language because we respect every language and give them equal rights

No, Indians aren't more knowledgeable than Americans. If you ask random Indians who is the president of South Korea, can they answer? Definitely no. We grew up watching American movies, American news, American TV shows on TV channels, that's why we know more about America than Americans know about India.

As per the Indian Constitution, there is no National Language for India. Hindi and English are the two official languages of India. Only official, not national. As per Article 343 of the Indian Constitution, the official language of the India shall be Hindi. Also, as per Official Languages Act, 1963, allowed for the continuation of English alongside Hindi in the Indian Government indefinitely.
