Our dialogue is getting so much better and I'm having a harder tie remaining as skeptical as I once was. There are fewer and fewer instances of button pressing that seems non-sensical.

@@Suckeychicken exactly. My roommate's dog isn't the brightest dog out there but she understands our commands and decides to follow them when she wants to. She also sits on the sofa when she's not supposed to, but as soon as I give her a look or say her name, she knows to get off the sofa. Dogs have always understood us, but now we're learning how to have a two-way communication system whereas currently it's just humans talking at dogs. It reminds me of videos I see where babies who can't speak yet know baby sign language or can point to words on a flash card. They understand, we just need to find a way to communicate and then teach it.
@hollisticbomber2660

We have always communicated with each other. Someone has just added their voice and an aural element to it. My dog scratches me when he wants to go for a walk. I could have him press a button, but I dont want to hear that all the time. This isnt really novel. Humans fall for things when they include language, but any pet owner knows what their dog is feeling or what it wants without this. I dont get the hype. At all. And the academic conversation surrounding this topic disavows any notion of true language comprehension entirely. Im disappointed this is being seen as more than a parlor trick. But it is a good parlor trick.

One of the interesting things for me is she's pretty good at knowing where the specific buttons are. It's like when you're typing and you don't need to look at the keyboard anymore, you just do it by feel. My husky has already taught herself plenty of English words without my help so that when I ask her things like "Bring me your toy" She will go find it and place it into my hands.. It was nothing I taught her.. She just .. learned.. Which leads me to believe that dogs understand humans perfectly well.. and your videos just prove my point.. :)

They can learn to understand words or phrases and what they mean after repetition of actions that take place after those words are said. You have seen dogs play, right? They are pretty rough, rolling on the ground, teeth and claws out and such. Does that seem like the sort of thing you want to do? Truly? Seriously, when I am done playing with my dog, I have welts all over my hands and arms, bruises too. And my dog is a medium size dog like Bunny here. If I had a larger dog than this I would have to arm and armor myself. There is no actual harm meant, that is just how they play rough. It is easy to satisfy the tug and throwing the ball. But those activities only accomplish just so much, and dogs needs so much more. Can you imagine being limited to just three activities for your entire life? Yeah.

Hunger for Words' channel has a heap of videos on how to teach your dog (or other pet) how to talk. The creator is a speech therapist, & that's how she came up with the idea of teaching her dog to talk to begin with! Edit: here's a link to the channel I mentioned above: kzfaq.info/love/4n1G-BIHCYu1suNxLRjcyg 🙂

@@AdashaAmazing- you're welcome, there's heaps of videos of people, inspired by Hunger for Words, teaching their own animals to talk too, in addition to the Hunger for Words channel's videos... BilliSpeaks is one of my favourites - she's a tortie cat who's very talkative. 🙂 If you plan to train your own pet to use buttons too, I'd love to see videos eventually! Are you aiming to do that?

After watching videos of a dog named Stella, I was very interested in this. Bunny was featured on daily dose of internet today, and I just had to come to this channel. I want to teach my dog this, its just incredible. You should post a video(s)of how to teach your dog how to speak through buttons.
@lordbalzamore7692
@lordbalzamore7692 3 жыл бұрын
I saw some other videos that show this. The buttons were at first in locations the dog might connote with certain actions, like the 'outside' button was by the door. Then you'd make the dog have to press the button before the action takes place. That part is classic pavlovian, teach the dog the sound, colour, feel of the button and allow it to commit it to memory. Then you combine the buttons into a board so the dog can start to press buttons in more of a quick succession. Then I think the last step is adding more complicated terms, such as questions and adjectives, and pressing the buttons and replicating the sounds yourself often. This is just my guess from a short session of watching these vids.
