Exactly right they fear us organizing. If we unionized, it’s over for Uber and Lyft. Either cough up the money or move the hell out of the state. Imagine if we had a better form of communication to gather all these drivers so we are all on one page.

My income has dropped over the last few months with charges from the new tier program on doordash. I made 51 on doordash last week. I made 84 on uber eats. I made 230 on instacart. I cant get my schedule on dd that I had unless i stay up until midnight. And still get up at 630 am to start my shift. Im disabled im required to sleep 8 hours. So im severely fatigued, high ar get orders first now. Ive been number 16 to get an order. They never rest the tier for dd so since i have a low ar i get a qaurter of my income on dd. Ue is garbage. Ic is slave work. One fourth of my earnings goes to gas. I made 98 in 10 hours before expenses. Sundays yeild 200 usually. Not anymore. Im short 740 for rent tomorrow. Oh well.

independent contractors have a right to negotiolate prices.Not in uber and lyft work so we are not contractors.

I am a driver advocate, have been involved in transportation my whole life. I hope my previous post did not sound like a rant. That was not my intention. It’s just the truth. In any industry especially one that is fairly new, companies will take advantage of. They can’t help themselves. But the people that do the work are entitled to a minimal amount of fairness. So unfortunately they have to fight for it.

I saw a Lyft ride on June 30, 2024 for 7 miles total for $3.33 paid to the driver. It was rejected!

If you are in desperate financial situations(most of us are thanks to our current government) and you need $300 to pay rent this month. Uber/Lyft are an option you would'nt have 20 years ago. Reality though is 20 years ago most of us wouldn't need a gig job to pay rent. Use them to make money but don't be a fool. Driving a car is not a skill. Our leverage is minimal. Autonomous vehicles are right around the corner.

Unionize? The same rules don’t apply to independent contractors. Uber is barely profitable and has extremely low profit margins. I don’t think Lyft is even profitable yet. They can’t pay a lot more if they are not making money. What’s going to happen is this nonsense by drivers is going to make the companies go out of business. Then you won’t have any job at all.

To solve all the money problems that are discussed on this channel, here is the solution. Minimum ride fee for riders 15 dollars. At 70% for the driver 30% for company. No more 3,4,5,6,7 dollar trips. If someone wants a ride to the grocery store 15 bucks period. That means drivers starting trip fare is 10 dollars. Minimum to get into my car 10 bucks. This supports the 70/30 split everyone is spouting off about. I’m done with ride share for now, it is not sustainable. You run your car into the ground and you are married to these gig companies. This concept of oh I want to make a few extra bucks drive at your leisure, all bullshit. People want to make some money not peanuts. These 5 dollar rides can take you as long as 20 to 40 minutes to do and the company lies on the mileage to be sure. Majority of drivers want to make at least 3 or 4 hundred bucks. Hell it costs 250 bucks to go and buy groceries. Drivers are not making enough to maintain a decent car and the people that are doing this full time have NO life at all besides sitting behind the wheel of that car. Customers have discovered they do not have to tip, so most that use these platforms regularly don’t tip period!! So take the tip BS right out of the equation. 10 bucks minimum for the driver to get into his/her car. 10 dollar starting point any ride between 0 an 10 miles 10 bucks for the driver then onward and upward from there. Only way to keep doing this job. You will run yourself ragged and the companies will run away with all the money. Forget about everything else except for at least 1 dollar a mile anything after. Below 10 miles 10 bucks for the driver. If they want a driver to make a pickup and take the customer to the airport, 10 miles to make pickup 40 miles to the airport 50 bucks minimum and I’m talking X not comfort. This is the fight people! Let’s not complicate it. These companies are making big big money. They have minimal cost and their financials they are posting would have you believe they’re struggling. The GIG is up!!

I won’t vote for Trump, but we need to loudly remind Kamala Harris that Uber drivers are voters. Her brother in law, Tony West, needs to pay drivers more and to stop their life destroying insurance practices with their predatory $2,500 deductible. This will be my first time not voting. If she, God forbid, becomes president, Uber will have ultimate power which will destroy even more lives, not just mine.
