Most likely Albania will remain at the end of the group; but but anything is possible. Many Albanian players play in Italy and their team has achieved a lot recently. Albania's coach has played in Italy, so he knows the adversary well. Croatia could be the group winner.

I think all 3 bigs will go through. Not underestimating Albania but I think they'll lose all games. 3 points is maybe enough for all teams so they'll go to top16. I actually think the opposite. Italian strikers suck, but the midfield is top. We create a LOT of chances every match and we score very little in comparison

Italy didn't qualify for the WC 2018 either and won Euro 2020 beating Spain, England at home and Belgium, winning all matches in the round robin. Croatia is a great team too, it's going to be a battle.

Chiesa is important. In midfield, no more Pirlo-Gattuso types either. Barella comes close. Decent in defence. If Donnaruma is in form, he's great.

@@FutFanatik Well, I said that they play out of the top teams, not that they are all subs. 1 for Lazio and 1 for Atalanta, mid-high level, the others are in teams battling for relegation (Empoli, Lecce). I'm an Inter fan, I watch all the matches, and I can tell you that Asslani isn't worth a foot of Chalanoglu at the moment. We believe in the guy and we really want him to improve, but he isn't there yet. I don't expect Albania to lose all matches, but I think they will be last none the less. As kind refresh....: The history says: Italy is one of the most successful national teams in the history of football and the World Cup, having won four titles (1934, 1938, 1982, 2006), appearing in two other finals (1970, 1994), and reaching also a third (1990) and a fourth (1978) place. Italy also won two European Championships (1968, 2020), and appeared in two other finals of the tournament (2000, 2012). The main difference between the Netherlands and Italy is the winning mentality. Netherlands usually play their best football in the preliminary round and then gradually become less effective. Italy are the opposite, they usually struggle in the preliminary round but are hard to beat in the knockout matches, especially in direct comparisons. In the direct comparison Italy vs. Netherlands have played each other 24 times. 3 times the "exceptional" Netherlands win, 10 draws and 11 times Italy have won...the only Dutch success is Euro 88 where the key players had the right mental attitude to win because of their experience at AC Milan. .. Italy played in total 13 Finals and won 9 trophies. The rest is fluff!

That is absolute nonsense...you are playing to an age-old English Media stereotype to paint a negative picture of Italian footballing history. In the 34, and 38 victories, Italy hadn't yet adopted Catenaccio (which wasn't even invented in Italy, by the way). These were attacking teams inspired by one of, if not arguably, the greatest players of his generation, Giuseppe Meazza. The 82 06 victories were anything but Catenaccio. Ahead of 82 and by the time WC78 came around, Italy, like many nations, was adopting more of the Dutch total football methods and tactics (obviously not Total football in the purest degree!). Italy had a Libro sweeper in Scirea, a position associated with Catenaccio, but Beazot deployed Scirea with the freedom to move and play forward from defence into attack for the national team, and he deployed the likes of Tardelli and Antognoni, who were box-to-box midfielders. In 82 Italy was in poor form in the group stage, thats all, but they came out and attacked opposition positively there after beating Argentina, Brazil, Poland and Germany.....thats not a bad run to winning a WC! In 06, Lippi deployed to Pirlo as he was for Milan, to orchestrated play from midfield and in a way that was not typical of Catenaccio at all and with De Rossi, Perrotta, Totti (playing deep) around him to try to dominate possession in midfield more. Catenaccio was a defensive style and play formation that Italian clubs and the national team adopted in the 1950s and 1960s but was still evident in WC 70. Italy won a European Cup in 68, but that period was more famous for a disastrous 1966 WC, Celtic beating Inter in the European Cup and Italy (exhausted from the Semi-final with Germany) getting smashed by Brazil 70, which was probably the greatest WC team of all time. Italy did not succeed with Catenaccio. There is an exception, and that's Sacchi. From 1992 - 1996 Sacchi reverted back to a very negative form of football requiring an overly defensive high press system. It was criminal because, in that period, Italy had some brilliant attacking players along with a few skilful midfielders who got overlooked. That was a drop back into Catenaccio and again Italy won nothing. Sacchi took Italy back many decades in his stint as national team manager and it took Italy along time to recover from his complete incompetence. So, any phrasing that Italy's successes come back to using Catenaccio football is a complete myth.
