Thank you for sharing these thoughts Paul as so many of us are facing these same questions trying to find answers, balance, direction and meaning.

A good message for everyone, especially those of us who've been at this a few decades... I had a professor tell me "life is just a series of compromises" - turns out he was right.

Thank you for this frankness. I think many of us share this (I'm 44 years old and apart from the fact that I don't create sound banks, I see a lot of myself in what you say.) I confirm that you learn a lot by teaching. I started music 31 years ago and I've been teaching for 25! I wish you to achieve your goals! The fact of wanting to teach more is a very good thing! For my part, I play on stage with other musicians, I compose music on a computer (with lots of Spitfire sounds, of course!) and I also create just for myself, with my wooden flute and my pedals. of effects. I even do research to continue to nourish my mind (I am finishing a doctoral thesis in musicology). What I want today is just to be able to make a decent living from it. (I still need to improve my English, I rely a little too much on Google translate :-))

That‘s so inspiring to hear! I also did a lot of teaching in other areas so far and I loved it. Also wanna do that in music in the future. You learn sooo much ❤️🔥🎶❤️🔥 And I‘d love to be your student 🤓🎼

Hi, Paul - lovely album. Please complete the ‘Creating Your Album’ series. You’ve only given us parts 1-3 so far. X

It was interesting, when watching the first part of your video, before you even mentioned it, a thought popped into my head: that you - Paul - should be teaching …

Great video Paul, thanks for sharing 👍 You might find some useful ideas to help you achieve your goals in the book Atomic Habits by James Clear (which you may well have read already). I've been listening to a chapter each day over lunch on Audible & finding it very useful & motivating. Pairs well with The Creative Act by Rick Rubin (which I know you've read already) which I find makes superb listening material for inspiring car journeys.

Well this one hit a little close to home - just feels like there's never enough hours in a day! The world needs good teachers; all of the most influential people in my own life have been teachers, in one form or another.

Yes - I've had a few truly inspirational teachers - they left a life long impression on me!

Hey Paul, thinking about the same things here (livelong composer / musician turning 70 next year). Very first thoughts about your 5 things (and Not a critique! Just doing the same as you): Those 5, …. aren‘t those the exact same goals you had 10 / 20 /40 years ago? All the very best, Jochen

I will have to correct your Italian and Latin pronunciation, Paul! 🙂 Jokes aside, you are absolutely on point with what you mention in the video, ta as always for sharing your thoughts

Thank you for sharing. I'm very curious to learn about what happened to your analogue tape machine and experience? Loved it? Hated it? Back into storage?

Never managed to use it! Spent ages getting it set up beautifully so I sold it. Maybe another day in the future I'll have the time!
