I'm on day 9 of no nicotine or alcohol- I was a daily drinker and smoked almost a pack a day. It's been pure hell quitting both like I did. Kudos to you for keeping at it! It's such an encouragement to see someone else out there doing it too.I see this was 5 months ago, how are you doing now? I figured If I quit drinking but continued smoking, the temptation to drink would be too overwhelming. I've quit countless times but this time feels different. It wasn't a new years resolution either. I thought I was having a heart attack the day I quit. I may have even had a minor one. who knows. But that did it for me. The chest pain, vomiting, pain in my lungs, unable to breathe, coughing etc.. I have simply had enough. Keep up the fight ya'll!

The last time I was intoxicated I fell down the stairs while carrying firewood to the woodstove in the basement. I smashed my head open and totally passed out. It was January 11th 2017. I was helicoptered to Dartmouth hospital in Lebanon NH from my home in Littleton NH. Nobody thought I would survive - doctors, nurses, therapists, friends and family. I had 3 brain surgeries. I was in the hospital for a year and could not even walk. Age 56. Fortunately strong as an ox from a lifetime of heavy weightlifting and hiking in these rugged mountains. I remembered nothing during that full year and I did not even know where I lived. When I got back home I could only walk a hundred yards using a walker. Slowly graduating to using a beaver cut staff and going further. I now had epilepsy and 6 siezers. Now I walk without help a couple of miles on these mountain trails, a bit unsteady on roots and rocks whereas before I often bushwacked into remote areas with pack and rifle. I shall continue to get better. A year ago I started weightlifting again - before my injury I was very near the NH state bench press record for my age and weight. 5 years ago I had bought several hundred bitcoin at $250 each. I sold half of them for $2 MILLION US dollars after tax. Everybody meets with challenges in life - they can take you down or cause you to overcome in ways that are stronger than ever. This is me. I shall and am coming back whatever may.

Day 1. I've tried many times and failed. I wouldn't say alcohol controls my life, but I feel I "need" a few beers after work to come down from the day and then probably knock back a couple 12 packs on the weekend. I've worked out consistently for years and got in decent shape but I've never been able to take my body to the next level. Also my weekends are very non productive from wanting to do nothing but sit around and drink. Been watching a lot of vids last few days on quitting so here I go again.

There are some about sugar, but chocolate seems to have a deeper hold... giving up all caffeine seems to be more effective than just coffee.. thought still misery to start with! I've given it all up before and felt well ! All the sudden I'm getting along with everyone, all the sudden I'm performing better at work, all the sudden I don't want to kill myself anymore, all the sudden I'm confident, all the sudden I know I'll find my purpose. Purpose was the big one for me. I've tried so many things and nothing's really stuck. I used to think I'd never find anything for me and that I'd die broke and alone but these days I know that there's something perfect out there just for me! Thank you so much for making this video. Thank you again for sharing your experience, its a big support for idiots like me. One big thing that I've been doing also that has helped me is staying in prayer. You are fabulous! I thank the universe for guiding me to you. You popped up out of the blue. I just want to share that I feel sad and disappointed at having wasted decades of my life, of my creativity, through heavy drinking. You simply won’t believe how long I’ve been drinking ...- all my life. From Irish stock and every relative drinking Guinness I started very early indeed. I’m in my 60s now! God definitely must have a plan for me because I’m still here very healthy... liver lungs heart in great shape and now my mind - so clear. I have an unshakable faith and I’m excited about finishing my creative projects and am so inspired by your naturally positive outlook and life style through your wise choice. This is such a huge step for me and I’m only on my 15th day……!! I’m feeling some incredible unforeseen benefits already. Thanks again. To your good health!

I realized I was numbing my suffering and anxiety that I wasn't even aware of and that all the drinking was coming from huge childhood trauma that im trying to deal with now through therapy but that is the hardest part of it but it worths every penny and all the energy I'm dedicating to it. I have to admit that - i am so excited and eager to be going through this and be a part of a community with you. I am even more excited to know what the future holds for me because of your video. I have to agree with so much you say. esp with the exercise. the past couple of days I find myself after work heading home and i actually WANT to walk home (NYC here)... when i was hungover and going to work, i would be so exhausted i would take cabs (11-15 bucks each way) just to go home, lay down and drink more. looking back it all seems so freaking foolish. I also relate to what you said about exhausting that idea of alcohol as a way to have fun with it or make things better. i did that and i feel the same. i feel like its time is over for me - it did what it did, but i came out lower. thanks again. i truly appreciate it. -alex.
