What are the gun laws in Poland?
The gun laws here in Poland are rather strict and not many people own firearms. In this episode, I talk to a friend of mine, Lukasz who is a legal gun owner.
We talk about the process of becoming a legal gun owner here in Poland, why the crime rate is so low and what would happen to you if you indeed needed to defend your house with a firearm.
There is no 2nd Amendment here in Poland and the people do not have the right to keep and bear arms for their protection. In Poland, there are 2.5 firearms per every 100 people making it the 166th most armed country in the world! Only %0.6 of people here are in fact legal gun owners out of a population of 37.97 million people.
We look forward to hearing from you in the comments!

You would think that because of how Poland was invaded from both sides during WW2 that Poland would want its citizens to be armed

@@thepolandexperience4268 As for the stuff you can own it’s mainly the standard capacity mags and anything in what some countries consider a “military caliber” that’s why you’ll see stuff made in say 9x21 instead of 9x19mm. Many Semi autos are limited to 3 rounds like in France. Also Switzerland, Slovenia, Czech Rep.,Finland are great because you can with a permit still buy almost any Semi auto handgun/rifle available and usually some awesome guns you can rarely find in the States because of our 922r legislation.

I swear to God if I hear another uninformed westerner calling Poland "based" one more time, I'm going to burst a Pieróg gland. We have some of the most fucked-up sexual assault statutes in the EU and rampant violence against the LGBT crowd in which fucking PIS looks the other way. There was one disturbing story of a teenage girl who was raped by a relative, and the court dismissed the charges because the victim was too in-shock to resist and "didn't scream". Yes, this garbage exists in our legal system.

You don't have to be a Polish citizen to get a gun license in Poland. You need to have a permanent residence. So as a foreigner you can have it. However be prepared to study all Polish law concerning guns. That's about a 100 pages of text to memorize and understand. Each gun license requires you to pass an exam. I know that because I am currently preparing for an exam for a sports license in Poland. When it comes to self-defence, by law you are allowed to use any means necessary to defend yourself, another person or your property against theft or damage. However with every event like that you will be taken to a court. And even if the main charges will be dropped than you may still loose your license in the end for as little as a warning shot to the ground.

@@tylerlungu447 If you declare your residence in America than you can't. When applying for a license you need to provide an address of permanent residence within Poland. It is a condition of getting a license. If you live abroad you will be declined. Citizenship is never mentioned in Polish gun laws, no need to have it. BTW, why would you need a gun license in Poland if you are not in Poland? P.S. Since writing the first post I now have two licenses in Poland. Sport and collector's. I haven't bought anything yet, but I guess I should start with a carry pistol that could be used in a practical competition shooting.

08:35 That's not true. It all depends. You probably will be arrested, you will be questioned on the Police Office, probably charged, BUT you will not be punished and will not lose your gun license and freedom, if the court will decide that you acted in self-defense. Self Defense in Poland is a situation, when you defend yours or someone else's health and life. If you defend yourself or someone else's health and life, and the response to the threat was adequate and not exaggerated, you will not be guilty. Moreover, any exceeding of the limits of self-defense will not be punished if someone defended himself in a house or apartment, unless the exceeding was absolutely gross. So, for example, if you kill a burglar in your home at night, you will not be punished and the charges will be withdrawn. If you kill an aggressive drunk on the street who pushed you but did not pose a direct threat to your life or health, you will probably be punished. That's an old myth, that you cannot defend yourself, as it is with gun rights. Most of the people who didn't get gun license think, that it is very hard. It WAS, but the law changed many years ago. It is similar situation in the case of right to self defense. Greetings. And sorry for my English.

7:39 - well, it depends on a gun. Black powder guns are technically collector guns, but you are legal to carry them loaded. Tbh they have the biggest range of allowed use. The only problem is that in public events you cannot carry one loaded or not. Which is what you can get with "defense license".

Kilka tygodni temu zostałem zaatakowy w domu. Obudziłem się z nożem przy mojej szyji. Okradziony z elektroniki i pieniędzy.
@ThomasJ.StonewallJackson
@ThomasJ.StonewallJackson 7 ай бұрын
Strzelaj w nogi? To zły pomysł. Wzywasz policję i wykonujesz dokładnie wszystkie polecenia. Pozdrawiam

There was one question of mine that was not answered. So it takes 6 months to be approved for gun license, but is there any limit to the platform you can buy at that point? For example, at that point, could someone go straight out and buy that AR15 in the video at that point, or is it a separate class of heavily restricted weapon like in most European countries?
@ThomasJ.StonewallJackson
@ThomasJ.StonewallJackson 7 ай бұрын
In short: In practice, for ordinary, normal citizens, there are two types of gun permits: collector's and sporting. For a collector's permit, depending on the voivodeship (Poland is divided into 16 voivodeships, a bit like the USA is divided into 50 states), you will get 10-15, and for a sports permit you will get 4-8 so-called promises, i.e. specific, individual permits for the purchase of one weapon arts. So if you have 5 promises, you can buy 5 pieces of any weapon that your type of permit allows. If you want more, you have to ask for more promises. For sports, they almost never give more than 8, and never less than 4. Sometimes you can even get over 20 for collectors' items. And now specific types of weapons: For a sports permit: Any repeating or semi-automatic firearm, full auto prohibited, maximum caliber 12mm. That is, any normal weapon, except large-caliber sniper rifles. So you can buy an AR15, but one with semi-automatic fire, without the possibility of switching to full-auto fire. For a collector's permit: Any repeating or semi-automatic firearm, full auto prohibited, maximum caliber 20mm. In addition, flash, alarm and pneumatic weapons are not available without permits (most are). The main differences between these permits: A sports permit obliges you to take part in shooting "competitions" at least once a year, and allows you to carry a loaded weapon with a cartridge in the chamber, but should be as concealed as possible. It requires being a member of any shooting sports club, usually the annual membership fee for the club is several to several dozen dollars. Allows you to have several weapons. A collector's permit does not oblige you to anything other than being a member of a collector's club, where the annual fee is usually a symbolic few dollars. You don't have to take part in any competitions. You cannot carry a loaded weapon (the magazine, if full, must be outside the weapon, the chamber empty). You can have 10+ weapons, including the largest caliber. I hope I helped. PS. Unfortunately, in terms of defense, bullshit was said in this film. YOU CAN LEGALLY KILL IN DEFENSE. And there is no penalty for it, as long as someone defended life, health or property, and the reaction was not exaggerated. However, there is an automatic trial to check if you didn't broke the law. So in general, you can kill in defense of life, health, property. Regards

Gun violence isnt an issue in europe because unlike america they dont have crippling poverty combined with a culture of “wealth acquisition is the only morality ” When you have that of course crime and gun violence goes hand in hand. Who shoots first get the cheddar Most American gun enthusiasts ideologically refused to accept that because of libertarianism is incompatible with the fact that material conditions create poverty, not work ethic Malta has privately owned rocket launchers and MG42s!!! But they also have a social safety net so people aren’t shooting up gas stations over 100 dollars like america

Suppressors are a grey area. By law a gun designed to be used with a sound suppressor is classified as "especially dangerous". Which requires a difficult to get license. However almost all guns can be fitted with a suppresor in some way. It would mean that the police is breaking the law when registering most guns. Sound suppressors alone are not considered "important gun parts" on their own and can be made and can be owned, no law says you can't. Except gun shops are not allowed to sell "sound suppressors" to regular gun owners by a different law that regulates them specifically. Many gun shops now sell them as "multifunction muzzle device" or a "hearing protection muzzle device". So it is a complete mess, but some people have been using these for 2-3 years now and nobody is getting sued yet so I guess we are good.

Well, in Poland you don't need to always keep looking behind your back and constantly watch for threats around you. You can relax even when walking past midnight across any city. Maybe with exception to driving as it sometimes feels like a racetrack. Guns in Poland are not necessary for your survival. They are considered only either a really weird hobby or a full-time job. Violent crime is so rare it makes national news when it happens and the whole country talks about it for a few days. I am telling you this even as a holder of three separate gun licenses in Poland, who is legally allowed to conceal carry with one in the chamber. I still find it more useful to carry a spring knife or folding knife considering how many letters and packages I open daily. However if the situation changes someday I would probably carry a gun daily if that what's necessary for safety. It is the same with swords, so just because in Poland I can legally carry anywhere a big two-hander sword strapped to my back doesn't make any sense to do so at the current time. USA has a huge violence problem, but it is completely unrelated to guns. Your society is a mess and more guns will not fix that. It probably won't make it worse, but it won't do shit to help either.

@darek4488 Anyone who would trade freedom for security deserves neither. You also don't have the world's largest Drug Cartels on your border. Your society is smaller and more homogeneous. You lack the ability to "God Forbid" keep your government in check and before you spout the narrative about fighting against fighter jets like our dumb ass president, remember that the Taliban didn't need them to throw us out of their country. You are literally advocating for your own government to restrict your rights. Let a few million migrants enter your country illegally and your cities will be like Paris or London. Then ask yourself if you'd like more restrictions on your right to defend yourselves and your loved ones.

@@usmcmma Considering you have the means to stop the government. Why nobody stopped it when the NFA was written, or when the TSA was introduced or when the PRISM was discovered? I guess quoting B. Franklin wasn't much of a fight. FBI is wiretapping more than 1% of US population without any warrant, BATFE is effectively the law on guns and they do whatever they want. Your rights are slowly melting away. The freedom of speech in USA has fallen into the private hands of the few. The US general public is menetally just as unfit to confront the government as the Polish one. They both have surrendered. The tools won't change that. These countless braindead zombies don't really have much of their own free will left and they don't understand anything. It's getting just like in the movie Idiocracy. They will do anything for the government to take care of them. And unfortunatelly I am not very optimistic on that changing anytime soon unless the whole system fails first and some people starve to death.

Everybody in Poland thinks it is impossible to get guns here, while it is actually easier than getting a driving license and registering a car.

We are not restrictive - our tyrants and opressors are. If you look how much money they're stealing from us and sharing among themselfs then its not that difficult to figure it out WHY THEY DONT WANT FOR POLISH PEOPLE TO OWN WEAPONS... They're scared of slave rebellion. The day they would say "open carry" for everyone it would be the last day of their power. Those thiefs perfectly know that.

I don't think this guy knows what he's talking about talking about in New Jersey you need to have references from people outside your family and this and that like no this is America if you're over 21 and have a clean criminal record you go buy that gun some states might have like a 10-day waiting period but you go buy that gun you get that gun you don't need references... maybe references to get a CCW.. but I don't know that pass so I can't really speak on it but the two people I do know they got it never said nothing about references

The modern state of Poland has been designed specifically for ethnic Polish people so it’s a monolithic ethnic Polish state That’s not to say that non-Polish people live in Poland for EU or they get visas for the most part. They do not have a history of accommodating multicultural people this stems from their history, especially in the 20 century. Inherently Polish culture you have a violent rate because you have a motto ethnic society so people live fairly harmonious with each other because they know what to expect from the person who is Similar to them As expected, there is no American style second amendment right to bear arms so it’s a privilege and they probably copied similar European schemes from other countries The one principal fighting European countries is that personal violence against other people is usually the monopoly of the state and is vested in people who are armed police officers so I can imagine getting a license for security is going to be a much higher bar and you will not be given an automatic pass if you shoot somebody in your house That is, you can very stiff legal scrutiny on your actions

Hey Elijah. Thank you for the comment. I really appreciate your honesty here and encouraging me to make better content. Being new at this (making video content) is a real challenge and in the moment I don't always know how to react. Maybe it was nerves, maybe I was thinking about the next question or something and didn't quite hear the answer or missed something. I do wish that your experience here was better and would like to ask you if you could tell me in a few words how I could be a better interviewer. I can see from your channel that you don't really create much content but you must watch a lot of youtube and as a viewer (consumer) have some points to make. Thank you!

My husband and I are seriously thinking of moving to Poland - BECAUSE of the gun laws! America is terrifying right now. You can't go to the grocery store, Dollar General, there is no where you are safe from wackos with guns. We were in Europe this summer and there was a whole category of tension headaches and anxiety that I just didn't feel. My husband went to Poland for work for a week and loved it. America is not safe.

🤣 and here I live in a red state where everyone owns guns and I feel safe because all the gun owners are law abiding citizens who scare off the real criminals. Who would want to rob a store when everyone in it is going to have a gun? A deterrent. That's what gun rights are.

NJ gun laws are ASS. In America young kids illegally obtain glocks with switches(makes your gun automatic) and can run rampant in major cities. I honestly dont have any personal experience in NJ but why limit the capacity of a law abiding citizen if 1. criminals will obtain any capacity magazine including drum mags. 2. Arent actually being held accountable or arrested by cops.
