damn bro, I felt ur pain in this vlog... ive did plenty of Christmases in the county. they sent me to IYDOC - lil Joliet - in the 90's and right before xmas I got my own room, it was the corner of the bldg. the wind was coming in thru the window. we got bright yellow jackets and hats for xmas and bc it was so cold in my room I had to sleep w them on. didn't have a tv but had a radio and the song that came on WGCI was - what do the lonely do- it was the first and only time I cried while being locked up... damn,

Another side of the holidays is dark. People get depressed on Christmas, birthdays, thanksgiving. You never know when a guy has something weighing on his mind. Most people try to be positive but it's hard sometimes. I have been in dorms where somebody goes around and collects honey buns and stuff and makes gift bags for the ones who never Have money on their books. When you're in prison and you don't have anybody coming to visit and no money on the books for commissary it sucks. Everybody else is eating good busting spreads or pockets as they're called in Georgia where I'm from, and your stomach is always growling waiting for the next chow call, where they serve the same old slop as the day before and you tired of eating beans and grits and mystery meat with no salt, no pepper, just bland slop. Eating that shit every day for years fucks with your emotions as bad as not having any pussy. You're dreaming of a fucking burger and fries. Ads in magazines make you wanna cry. Lol its a mind fuck, especially if you got no outside support and a lot of dudes don't have any money, no mail, no visits, so it's cool to look out for them folks on Christmas.

Videos like this keep me focused and remind me I can't go back. Respect due brother.

Herc is correct! In the feds most major holidays are recognized. Hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon on july 4th. Mexican food for Cinco de Mayo. Turkey and sides for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Halal lamb and sides for Ramadan. All this is served at the chow hall!

Texarkana and El Reno Fed Camps we had tournaments... dominoes/chess/ping pong/spades/etc. Winner gets a 6 pack of Coke or some Ramen noodles PLUS it was good food on Thanksgiving and Christmas in the chow hall , you could get 2 servings.

I am a staff member in a state prison. Our state doesn't have visiting hours on state holidays. In addition, there are no special meals on holidays. They usually give out a sack lunch and shut the chow hall down for dinner. Phone calls are very important on the holidays.
