Great video! I've always been fascinated by caskets since I was a child! Would you be able to show a demonstration on the mechanisms of a sealing casket? Such as how to lock the lids in place? That be an awesome video!

Kari Lovely Lady You have beautiful eyes! Conan O'Brien was in Nigeria about a month ago. He was showing a casket made in the form of a turkey. He told the viewing audience that they were the stuffing.

I’ve never been to a funeral where I had witnessed the closing of the casket. For the overlay is that used kind of like a blanket when it’s tucked into the casket?
@KaritheMortician3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it is and sometimes just tucked down by the feet

Caskets are extremely heavy. Being physically disabled, I have a lot of upper body strength but not enough to lift a heavy wooden box. And oh yeah, I use just my right arm, which is my dominant arm.

Interesting. Now the material that is hanging over the casket, is that tucked into the casket before they close the lid for burial? Or is it laid over the body in the casket?
@ryan_torres4 жыл бұрын
It gets tucked in around the edge. (I think it's part of the rest of the lining so you can't just pull it off)
@KaritheMortician4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is all tucked in

Fascinating! I think it would be really interesting to see a coffin and a casket side by side and compare differences. I also would be interested in a more in depth video on different styles and such on caskets. I know you did one a good while back, but the terms are also interesting!

The glass ID tubes in the outer corner..... is there ever anything written in them, or is that just one of those things that 99% of funeral staff ignore? And what information goes in them? Just name of deceased?
@KaritheMortician4 жыл бұрын
Yes some staff do ignore

So interesting, do they come with a warranty? Stupid question huh? Lol
@ryan_torres4 жыл бұрын
Oddly enough, some do. A few months after my father passed away I got a warranty card in the mail from the Matthews casket co. Kinda was taken aback by it. Can't remember but I think it said 5 years?? I mean, who's going to go check to see if a casket is defective? Also, curious as to how many warranty claims they get?

They do, which covers until it is buried

@katiesterling52702 жыл бұрын
As a Funeral Service student, I assure you these parts are important to know and learn. In addition to these parts, different finishes, ornaments, fabrics and metals comprise the casket. Without the knowledge of the parts, how they are affixed, and where they are located, we would be unable to serve families and fulfill specific requests. Similar to car, when ordering parts, you wouldn’t just say “the handle” you’d say the trunk latch, hood latch, car door opener, glove compartment pull, etc.” It’s necessary.
