I'm about to lead my first 200 hour YTT and this is helping tremendously. You are amazing, Rachel! Thank you.

That's amazing Sophie! Have a great time :) If it's helpful, here's a tip for teaching the sutras that I have found handy: draw in and invite as many specific real - life applications as possible - those kind of inquiries keep it really fun and relatable :)

@@RachelScottYoga that's a great tip - I gathered that from watching you teach. you're a fantastic communicator. I wish i found your website before I purchased my 200 hour manual elsewhere, but I'll definitely be referring back to your resources as I need them. :)

I like how you struggle to come up with something mean to say. Good stuff. You explain things well I'm learning a lot.

Well explained, but here's the catch - When you are awake, if not other vrittis, at least direct perception (pratyaksha pramana vritti) is continuously happening. That is, kind of, what it means to be awake. When asleep, its the nidra vritti going on. So technically 'chitta vritti nirodha' cannot happen when you are either awake or asleep !!! 😀

your videos are exceptionally clear and accessible! thank you :) I have a question... where would confusion lie? would that be misconception?
@RachelScottYoga Жыл бұрын
Madalina - great question. It depends what the confusion is based on. If we are confused but don't know it (ie: we are mistaken about something) that would be misconception. But if our mind is confused and thinking to itself about different options, that's probably some combination of imagination and memory at work ;)

Which category would you put the thoughts chasing round your head of all the jobs you've got to do? Or are these not vrttis ?
@RachelScottYoga Жыл бұрын
Sure! Depends what kind of thoughts they are...are they projections (imaginations), ruminations on the past? If you're thinking of to do lists in your head, probably that would fall in the imagination bucket....
