Ben Foster, Mark Goldbridge and Dave Watson have a lot to unpack in this week’s Football Fill-In! Man City completed a league double over Man United in Sunday’s Manchester Derby, with Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden both scoring screamers. But Goldbridge claims Foden is stat padding!
Refereeing mistakes dominated the headlines this weekend. Liverpool stayed top of the Premier League thanks to Darwin Nunez’s 99th-minute winner but it was overshadowed by controversy around a drop-ball incident at the other end. The lads give their thoughts on that, plus the chaotic ending to Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw at Valencia in which Jude Bellingham was sent off after scoring what he thought was the winner!

@@kieranm2514Rashford tracked backed and did lots of sprint. You can't hope forward to track all the time. and I know/understand you don't want Rashford at United. But he was injured and still track back with injury. At that instance that was foul. And even after that it was Lindelof who should have done better to stop that goal.

Mark Goldbridge "i don't care about City, theyre irrelevant" I've watched him for years, Theyre literally the only team he genuinely hates. Even the way he reacted in his City vs United watchalong was something you'd see from the DT from AFTV handbook. He lost his head. He never does that in United games vs Liverpool for eg.

The same thing happened to liverpool in the first half. A forest player gets hit with the ball in the face and liverpool is in possession of the ball outside the box but forest goalkeeper gets the ball after the head injury.

On top of that the supposedly "monumental" error there was 2 minutes until the goal was scored after that decision. One throw in and one corner. Its a completely different play. The goal had no links with the decision. Media is giving this more focus than the spurs goal where there were incorrect sending offs, yellows and a goal onside by about twelve yards.

I don’t get the drama about the Liverpool goal. The drop ball happened 2 minutes before the goal and Forrest gained possession twice in that time and lost it both times, had no impact on the goal at all. Plus it should have initially been a high boot on Konate to begin with and during the first half the ref gave a drop ball to Forrest when Liverpool was in possession. This is a nothing situation that the media is stirring up to please the anti Liverpool fans

Legs are NOT wide open as his back leg is literally bent behind him. He's NOT off the ground, it's along the ground, studs not up, it's a great challenge. Also for that reason he wouldn't break his leg if Garnacho got the ball as he's along the ground with no studs up, a shocking take really. Struggled to find anyone that agrees with MG point of view on that and was baffled with his reaction on TUS the other night. Knew he'd come on here and get cooked by the goalies. I speak as a United fan too so no bias in that regard

Ederson tackle is straight red and 3 match ban with educational programe on how to play the game without causing injuries to an opponent and rashford one was clear yellow and another yellow for shouting at the referee afterwards (that would happen ive played the game)

With Ederson it’s different for a keeper. In his box he is allowed to stop the ball with any part of his body, although it’s basically a tackle he is essentially making a save. Only way it can be a foul is if he misses the ball or blatantly plays to take the player out.

The argument that Ederson got the ball first doesn’t make sense. Casemiro got a red for a follow thru on a tackle when he got the ball first. Any outfield player that makes that tackle is a foul and gets booked.

between the Liverpool decision and goal there was a goal kick given, 1 throw in, 3 possession lost by Liverpool, the ball going from Forest end back to Kelleher again, a corner and an awesome assist by macca on his weak foot. Completely different phase of play and Liverpool were given a GOAL KICK not a penalty, corner or freekick.

The forst players boot is high, should be a free kick regardless for Liverpool despite the fact they already gave Forest the kick for a head injury when we had possession in the first half. They had every opportunity to defend it and clear it. Its not as if it was a pen or even a free kick at the edege of their box

My kid hit one from outside the box in a school tournament final at 1-1 and the ref blew the whistle as the ball went into the top corner. The whole team was celebrating but then found out that the game was going to penalties!! The whole coaching team got red cards!!

I always wondered why keepers try to get down with their hands to save a ball they could easy blast out of the stadium saving it with a foot, especially so close, what happened to keepers saving with both feet and hands, you physically can't get down that fast whereas you stick a boot out it's going into row Zed 😊

Forest got booked twice for time wasting in extra time they wasn't playing for 3 points😆 and the game went 1min 50 sec after the drop ball before the goal was scored. The ball also went out of play and various phases of play.

Im sorry but im a united fan and mark is wrong about the Ederson tackle. If Onana does that Im going mad shouting "best keeper in the prem" for atleast 20 seconds. The day football gives a penalty for a keeper making those tackles and that clean is the day football truly has lost it. We got pumped and out of every Manchester derby i can remember thats the most acceptance towards a loss ive known. The standards are im the dirt from the Team and the Fanbase.

“We’re trying to take this out of the game”, what, tackling? It’s a contact sport, Ederson makes a perfect sliding tackle and makes minimal contact so how on earth is it a foul and/or card? The game is being refereed based on hypotheticals and it’s killing it.

Yea but if you have to pull out of a tackle to avoid a certain leg breaking challenge it’s a foul. Since it’s stopping you in your tracks though foul play.

Problem with ederson tackle is he got the ball. Had the tackle was outside the box it would have been given a foul. But in that Instance A foul means PK and it was too soft to give a PK.

on the ederson grenacho incident. would it be the same decision if it happened the other end between onana and a city player. onana gets a red card based on recent var decisions.

Lol no he wouldn't. What recent VAR decisions? Did you hear what the 2 former professional goalies either side of Mark said? There's no precedent of keepers getting that decision against them, they're allowed to get away with dangerous tackles as long as they get the ball first. The better question is, would it be a foul if Rodri or Casemiro committed that same tackle in midfield. It'd be a foul by an outfield player 10/10 times, and a yellow at the least.

@@awfan221 It literally wasn't a tackle. Garnacho never touches the ball so it's a loose ball or interception by Ederson, not a tackle. What example can you think of where a midfielder makes an interception (not a tackle) and got red carded?

I'm sorry but I used to be a keeper and Onana for me is technically poor, even basic handling. Love to videos and having goalkeepers views on thing because too many people are critical of keepers and have no idea how difficult it is.

No ive rewatched the tackle, ederson gets his foot to the ball first and doesnt really make contact with garnacho because garnacho didnt put his foot in. Edersons lucky garnacho didnt because if he caught garnacho at all it would have been a pen. The rashford one is a joke to even consider its a foul 😅 If walker pulls him back how did rashford fall forwards? 😅 Rashford was looking to go down

If Goldbridge whines while the game is running, ok, in the heat of the moment and such, but to still thing that the Rashford "I better try for a freekick" and Edderson's perfectly fine no-foul, that is quite odd.
