When I was a teen in the 00s you couldn't pay me to wear high waisted mom jeans and it was considered extremely embarrassing to buy secondhand clothes. This current generation seems more laid back and less judgmental.

this must have been some sort of art school or something because everyone wears such cool unique pieces, at my school (when we have mufti days) everyone just wears basic clothes like a top and skinny jeans with adidas superstars lol. i'm over it tbh so this is refreshing

Oml, if I wear some of these I’d literally get EXPELLED. Not suspended, not a detention.. EXPELLED. Wanna know my dress code? Nothing tight. AT ALL. Pants can’t be ripped, and have to be on the ankle or below, no tink tops (or however you spell it) Clothing can’t be bright colors. If you get caught wearing something neon, oh honey you better be ready to throw FIST with the principal. No shirts that go below the collarbone. Dresses or skirts have to be two inches past your knees (ew wtf) no logos or ‘bad words’ (understandable about the bad words, but logos?) Oh don’t even get me started on jewelry. Girls are not allowed to wear necklaces because.. get ready for it.. *Brings attention to the females chest, and may enhance collarbone, and distract male students, and teachers.* like uhh?!?! What? I got dress coded for wearing a BAGGY HOODIE! Wanna know why? 1. It said UCLA (my dream college) why would you take that away from a kid? ITS A COLLEGE! YOU SHOULD BE GLAD I WANT TO GO TO COLLEGE. 2. It was to fitting for my “curves” Bitch what curves all I see is rolls of fat from last nights dinner.. Sorry about ranting. I don’t go to a private school. My school is not that strict.. Unless it comes to dress code.

I live in Australia and no one from my school wears clothes from the op shop, although there's a few in my area. Your school's very individualistic and so much more artsy than my school! Everyone here just dresses in skinny jeans, adidas hoodies and vans/converse whenever we have mufti days.

I didn't know that schools with no uniforms even existed in Australia 😂 I'm from Perth, and I don't think we have any free dress schools here. A lot of teens here do dress pretty similar to the kind of things in this video though... It's great to see it becoming more common for people to re-work and re-use secondhand clothing.

My high school had a ‘sport uniform’ basically our everyday uniform which was a white shirt with our logo all over it and navy shorts, but then we had our formal uniform which was supposed to be worn every Friday and on special events like school photos or representing our school somewhere. I didn’t mind it, I’m excited for tafe next year where I can show up either looking super cute or in a trackkies and a jumper

Interesting how different my school is, we have a uniform but half the students wear adidas or nike pants with air forces, not very individualistic. Great video and very informative!

Ahhh... The joys of being in Australia... My school have uniforms which is basically a shirt and shorts in summer and on winter we just put on jumpers and then replace shorts with joggers (we have skirts but 95% of girls don't wear them). The only dress code is to not wear foreign jumpers or jeans/leggings when we are supposed to wear uniform. It's a security issue because they want to easily identify kids which school they came from. We have mufti days, basically days where we can wear what we want, and the only dress code was no bad words/imagery and no sharp studs (because it can be considered as a weapon).

I thought going to stores like goodwill was only common in the U.S, but I love how thrifting is cool in Australia too! Most of my friends' and I's clothes are from goodwill or stores like Marshalls and TjMaxx. Gotta love the college budget
