I know architecture is too much stress but I honestly don't see myself in anything else like genuinely architecture is the only thing I am interested in , I used to be interested in law but I figured out it was just a phase and my true passion is architecture and I believe this is the most important thing , because your passion and ambitions are what will control you.

My daughter did architecture first semester and did great, but the studio was much too time consuming, nebulous, subjective, stressful, and there was little instruction. Since there’s no one right answer, one can’t know when the amount of effort is enough, and that amount becomes enormous. She wanted more scientific exactitude and less art, so switched to engineering, and loves it. But if that’s your passion, go for it!

The thing about how first semester kinda levels the field is so true! I came into my program with no experience because I didn’t have any resources around me to help. My final for the first semester was ok and it definitely wasn’t the worse project, but second semester my project was maybe the best one of the group and I was awarded the first year award for design excellence. It is truly about what you put into.

I've now started architectural studies in college, so I'm basically a new first year (yaayy😫). Honestly I felt/¿feel? like this course really, REALLY wasn't the course for me...but after watching this, I think I'm going to hold on... apperantly we are going to do a pin up, next week😭 and I'm not too good at talking, especially infront of people that I don't really talk to in class. (Sidenote, because of corona they are saying that, what should've originally been a semester course will be crammed into 7weeks...needless to say, I'm already tired😪) Also I'm not good at model making. So I guess one of my questions is; • Were you bad at model making when you first started out, or were you good at it?

thank you! for my portfolio i mainly submitted work from art classes i took in high school. it honestly did not have very much cohesion, in the sense that i submitted everything from balsa wood sculptures to embroidered work, clay projects, and hand drawn sketches. my main tip would be to show that you have a balance of both technical skills AND creative skills. make sure you have variety and do not get caught up in trying to show 'architectural' things like buildings or perspective street shots, since architecture is much more than that- its important to show that you have a creative mindset rather than your ability to create a realistic rendering since that's something you will learn to do digitally in school anyway!

Time consuming tbh. Engineering? Probably only 2 'engineering' type classes you'll have to take that's mainly concept focus, not too much math. Business, ehh there might be a management class, but nothing in depth for business. You'll have to minor or double in that probably.

So it depends what way you go on about getting that degree. You can get a certificate at a tech collage on CAD and get a decently paying job right out of high school as a drafter/paid intern. There’s certifications that you get along the way which offer you lower level jobs in the field. Also once you get the 4year bachelors you need to go to grad school for 2-3 more years to be a full on certified architect. It depends where you live and what the cost in your area is but if you do it the smart way by getting those certificates for jobs while in school then you could probably afford moving out although it would be even better if you have a roommate sharing the rent with you.

Like can you switch or do them both idk... That's all I have in mind for now, please reply to me if you see this! I really need answers and advices
@jessicac8090
@jessicac8090 3 жыл бұрын
So since they didn’t respond here’s what I know based on a QnA I had with a CEO of an architecture company: You can check specific collages for course descriptions when it comes to degrees and a lot have a list of the specific courses you need to take for the degree. They consist of studio classes and classes going over things like building codes and how to be environmentally friendly. But it varies between institutions. Architecture doesn’t have to be interior design but it can it’s a really broad field there’s some architects who work solely on the drawing aspect and others who work on the more engineering side of it. So you can have like say an interior architecture job or something. There’s a demand for architects especially fully certified grad school ones. Not as big as a medical job but it’s not on a decline. Big cities/developing cities always need architects. There’s a lot of times in classes where you gotta present and do public speaking so I would say being sky would make classes go rough but public speaking is a skill that can be build and can get easier the more you do it I imagine theres a few public speaking/communication classes in every collage that you could take as an elective.
