Welcome back to the 41st episode of my $10 Series! Today I take you around the bustling city of Cairo, Egypt to see how far I can stretch $ 10 USD (PS: I got 10 items!).
I actually went to Cairo the first time in 2015 - way back when I was a budget backpacker and travel blogger (before I owned a video camera). I was young and naïve and to be honest, I didn't have a great time here.
But now, I'm back with fresh eyes and new perspectives, and let's just say that I'm enjoying Cairo about 10X as much as I did 5 years ago. It's also a very special time to visit because there are (literally) ZERO TOURISTS HERE, so I had the Pyramids of Giza all to myself. As long as you take precautions (wear a mask, avoid physical contact, wash hands frequently), then traveling is possible right now amid this new normal.

As a Indonesian muslim I find very odd as well. I literally met no one called islam. The closest I got is muslimin or something along that line. Perhaps it’s more common in Middle East?

I think the main reason this young man can do well for his $10 is because he has a local with him, so he gets local prices. To his credit, he also does a pretty decent job of haggling at the markets when things are clearly overpriced, and some people are terrible at that. Still and all, these videos are pretty interesting and done generally well. I don't think I'd be globe-trotting around a Covid-19 world right now, soI appreciate getting a glimpse of what's happening these days. i love to travel and lived for many years in Asia.

When I was much younger I was traveling in the USA by Greyhound and I met a man from Egypt. He randomly just offered me fruit I said no thanks obviously you don't typically take food from a stranger. But we became friends and we talked I drew him a little photo he keeps in his wallet and he gave me a coin from Egypt I carry it everyday with me.

Great video. We lived in Egypt for 5 years including through the revolution. Interesting times! Totally agree with koshary being awesome. Those party boats are crazy. We completely broadsided another boat, smashing a hole in the side, then just kept on going. Cairo. Loved it.

Either that, or you just safely hole up in your hotel room until it's time to leave. Not to mention, if i HAD to go there, i probably wouldn't spend more than 1 or 2 days. It's too risky, and i prefer my homeland anyway.

@@anttiruuskanen7126 look Cairo is pretty much so strange. It has those very random and poor places, but if you go a little away from the nile, it just turns into a very rich country. Most tourists actually visit the nile and pyramids but live safely in those other parts of Cairo.

I'm from the US and in Egypt right now. I can vouch. Every site has been empty from Cairo, Aswan, Luxor, and more. I've had every site to myself. Also the Egyptian people were so excited to see tourist back and visiting and were very nice and accommodating. I also can vouch it is very tough due to COVID to get in. Great video! Accurate representation.

The breakfast sounds good and reasonable priced. In South Africa you can still get a full English breakfast for under $3. Two toast, butter, jam, bacon, 2 eggs, tomato, a sausage.
