Day 98. So so so true! Very important that we find new ways of regulating our emotions. Meditation, breathwork, prayer, working out and MOSTLY: being in nature. These really help me as coping mechanisms.

It helps to develop new hobbies during the rebooting phrase. Investing yourself into something new it gets you hooked and slowly starts to take the urge to slip up on watching adult sites/ hentai. Never be afraid to experience new things.

Such an important message. My best long-term replacement habit has by far been hiking spending time out in nature. Didn't do it nearly as much I usually like to these past few weeks which is when some strong urges started to return. Over the past week I decided it was time to create time again for regular hikes and since doing that the urges have massively reduced and my perspective of life seems to be much healthier again.

I absolutely love hiking myself. I can literally feel how the nature is recharging my batteries when I'm out there. Imagine comparing that activity with spending 3 hours with multiple porn tabs open, clicking from video to video, like a brainless zombie. One activity fills you with positive energy (hiking) and the other one absolutely DRAIN you in EVERY way, and as a man in general. Keep up the good work, my brother from down under.

I was listening to an episode from another NoFap channel who mentioned something that I intuitively knew subconsciously in relation to today's topic... He said "we're all addicted" ... if your on retention and your taking cold showers and jogging... that's still an addiction.. albeit a very healthy and positive one. Or people who turn to artwork or become absorbed in their jobs.. why are they doing it?, because it's a transference of addiction . Now why we have addictive personalities in the first place is a whole other deep dive topic which I feel is genetically based.

Yes, I suspect that at least 99% of us are addicted to something. Or maybe even 100%. However, the exact definition of addiction becomes a bit blurry when we consider this perspective. For instance, one can indeed develop an addiction to physical exercise or work, and if taken to extremes, they can also be destructive. But there's a natural "barrier" between the individual and the "drug" in those cases, and that barrier is "effort". This barrier serves as a protective factor against creating a rapidly escalating negative momentum, unlike instant, no-effort drugs such as porn, cocaine, alcohol, gambling, etc. These substances lack the "effort buffer", which means they don't escalate in the same way. Moreover, there isn't a down-regulation of the dopamine system with healthy activities, at least not in 99.9% of cases. So, even though these activities might meet the criteria for addiction based on standard assessments (like assessing the four C's, for example), they are still not the same in terms of brain changes.

Bro before being addict to porn i used to watch so much boxing documentaries but ever since im an sever addict Everything in life just becomes boring even if i workout i don't feel good after. Because im giving so much dopamine. I can't feel enjoyment anymore.

What about having first the cold shower than the run, than a normal shower? Do you think is more function having the cold shower after the physical activity?

I just have a question, when we watch p**n we get a big spike and them a big crash, right? But do we just stay down, below the initial baseline?

For a while, yes. It comes back up eventually though. Unless we develop a serious addiction to it. Then it stays down much longer. But even that is reversable if we overcome the addiction...

I have heard that the more reboots you attempt the longer the reboot flatline lasts. for example if the first reboot includes 30 days of flatline then after 2 relapses the 3rd reboot attempt takes more than 60 days of flatline.. the brain's response to a change in stimulus gets "confused" when the process gets interrupted with the old stimuli. does it mean that if I MO every 10 days without watching P now It's harder for me to get out of the flatline or low libido?

Flatline is just a glorrified boredom. Thank about it. Your brain was habituated on PMO and now you suddenly stopped yet the dopamine baseline is still below. Everything feels boring and unintersting till the baseline returns to it's normal state.

I have heard the same theory, but from what I've seen with all my clients and other I've read about, I don't really believe this is the case.

That is for sure a big part of it. Dopamine below baseline. But, there is more to it when it comes to the flatline. Since it can completely kill libido, even to the point of making the penis cold and totally lifeless, something else is ALSO affected in the brain at the same time. How do we know? Because IF it was only about low dopamine, then the flatline would occur in all addictions after quitting (alcohol, drugs, gambling etc.) But it doesn't. While low mood / withdrawals certainly can occur in all addictions after quitting, that complete and utter libido kill is unique to porn addiction.

@@ScandinavianBob I agree because even though my anxiety and mood is improved I have no x drive, because of my MO habits.. so I think that my low x drive is not caused only by lack of dopamine, but rather It's caused also by something else.. because I think my other symptoms are already cured

Yes, that is often the case for many guys. But don't worry, whatever it is that is affected in the brain will recover with long enough time away from porn. I know it sucks, but things will improve!
