My nephew who is 32 years old, owns the building I live in. He's not married and he has no kids. He's also a Marine veteran. He told me that he's talked to some of his BM peers about investing in local real estate in our BC to build up black ownership etc. He says to me, Auntie I can't seem to get any of them interested in anything beyond hood chick's and running the streets. So he gave up and just does his thing.

From Shanquilla Robinson and Take off's tragic and unfortunate demise, I can safely say it's important to know your circle. Watch who you surround yourself with, watch who you call family and/ or change. You can be as innocent and unproblematic but if your circle is no good, you might pay the price. Please let's be careful

I realized it was demonic after xxxtentacion. I was going through a super depressive period and it felt like nothing was going right. Then something (the Holy Spirit) told me stop listening to his music completely. so I did an experiment where I stop listening to him of a while, then a listened to his music again and lo and behold I was right back with those depressive thoughts. same with a handful of other artists. I stop listening to rap, pop, and really most mainstream music and ESPECIALLY watching music videos and its been a huge impact. its demons in all of this mainstream music causing confusion.

I’d say that it goes beyond the music. It’s the socioeconomic factors that lead people to want to harm each other; lack of programs for the children, lack of a proper family structure, lack of community. Sure, people made it out of the hood and are living productive, positive lives. But, there are others who fall victim to the streets. There’s an African proverb that’s been said so many times: “It takes a village to raise a child.” We need to fix the village.

I have always had an issue with some of the content of rap ever since I was a kid, back then it was the constant name calling of women that I did not support, and the promoting of gun violence. Now it's just every thing wrong. Drugs, selling ourselves(yes women that is what we are promoting), just plain out selling ourselves and our community short. We are further off than we were in the 1990's rap era. Come for me or not I am not here for it. Few of our artists promote growth in the way that truly earns respect from all sectors. We have to accept that until we can transcend our community we have not truly progressed. When i see the constant attack of our people from all sides, inside and out, it cuts me to the core. We have to understand by sheer association and promotion of certain lifestyles we set our selves up as targets of jealously, being seen as the enemy/competition, and not worth anything else than what we promote. Mind your business, but remember our community and society IS OUR BUSINESS. Once you live amongst people expect them to look at you at some time. We all want to survive and make it yes but not by selling ourselves(literally and figuratively) and not by selling ourselves short by jumping on every trend/fad that is it at the moment. Just look at social networks today. The whole influencer phase has just about run it's course, the MUA's have had to switch up and if you weren't able to get a foot through certain doors and make your brand a BRAND then you really have to start from scratch now. The natural hair phase is just about over, the wig making era is played out as well, because everyone through Covid had no need or learnt how to do these things with the time they had, we are now into a loc phase until people get tired and learn how to redo their hair themselves and then want something fresh as well. Staying relevant requires being able to bring something different but then all the imitations come along, and some are even better... so make sure as I said what you bring can outlast the trending moment and make sure it truly is something that does not give anyone an opportunity to stifle you and use against you. Oh my I've said a lot. Anyway can you guys pop over to my blog and give an opinion on some of my perspective 784lalaworld.blogspot.com/

I rarely listen to rap now a days. Once others started emulating us, is when I knew it’s no longer a culture thing but a cash crop. 😞. 90s rap had its negative aspects to it as well, but there was always a dialect in the body of the music, IMO. For example Ice Cube’s Today Was A Good Day says it all in the first verse of the song; which it continues to mention gratitude, peace and bliss. Granted it talks about sex, drugs and gambling 😂. But you get the idea. I only listen to music that gives me a positive experience, singing dancing high energy.

There a story in the Bible about Joseph sister Dinah, long story short, she hung out with the wrong ppl, ended up getting raped and the man liked her and git her father to approve the marriage. But when her brothers found out they killed every man in the village including him. So nit only did their sister lose their innocence, but their family lost their honor bc of bad association. That story has always stick with me

I miss 90's hip hop because there was something for everyone. Now, it's all low vibrational trash. At this point, being a rapper is like making a blood pact with the devil... Biggie Pac Soulja Slim Moe3 Trouble XXX Tentacion Juice World Chinx Drugz Pop Smoke Takeoff Fbg Duck King Von Young Pappy Young Dolph Eazy E Pnb Rock Nipsey I know I'm missing at least 20 other names. This is sad😕

This not a black community issue. This is a African American black man’s cultural issue with how they choose to resolve disagreements with other black men , pulling out a gun over small disagreements. Cus it’s not all black ppl . It’s not AA women issue and it’s not African men or black men from overseas. It’s a AA men cultural issue.

I'm new to your channel. I agree with most of your statements. But music cant be the cause of violence in our community but it can mirror it. Music usually talks about whatever struggle people are going through. Music used to be more diverse. In my day 90s we had gangster rap clean rap trap music pop rap rap you can dance to. Its true people do need to do better we need gun control and to Communicate better with eachother. Im so sorry Takeoff didnt get to be an old man.. I pray for his whole family.🙏💖

It's the mentality of the people. Change your mindset your lifestyle changes. All music has its ups and downs. Stop taking street guys and giving them fame and money without instructions and you'll stop the madness. No one seems to care about the effect those negative lyrics have in the lives of BW just stop killing BM is all everybody care about. They were having a party on the roof of that building because they were there filming a video but everybody missed that part huh.

That’s not true. Positive rap music sells the most. Drake. Drake is a positive rapper who dominated male hip hop for 10 years sold the most iTunes and won the most Grammys from 2010-2020.

Drake is not a “positive” rapper. He might not be a gangster, but he does alot of damage with his words as well and he stands next to gangsters all day. Didn’t he just do a album with 21 savage?

@@TheShumakeWay lol there’s nothing gangster about “Hotline Bling” / “Got me in my feelings KiKi do you love me” / “Gods plans” / “I just wanna be Successful” / “I’m so Proud of You” . Drake he got a few tough guy songs on his album. Majority of his music is positive and he’s constantly making praising and uplifting songs . Y’all just notice the bad rappers more than the good.

All you gotta do is read the lyrics without music and you will see rap is all garbage. There some like KRS and a few others from back in the day were on point but the crap they have now is all garbage. And we can safely conclude that poverty is not the reason for why bm commit so much crime. BM entertainers are reportedly millionaires or at the very least not impoverished and yet they still commit so much crime that the mayor of atlanta has started using rico to get them arrested.
