I think Efren's hit and hope on the 3-ball was due to it being early in the match and not any idea that he was playing a lightweight. Akagariyama won the World Pool Championship in 2011 and the All Japan 14.1 the same year as this match. He was a serious opponent and Efren would know and respect that. I believe this match ended 11-9 so, hardly a blow out. Incidentally, Akagariyama donated his World Championship prize money to the victims of the Fukushima disaster for which he always deserves respect in my opinion, on or off the table.

The track record analogy is on point. Pool is a psychological game, some guys lose just off of Efren rep, so psychologically he's won. On top of the fact that he's the only MASTER I would say at the game... yes there are good players and great pros, but only 1 MASTER. THE 🐐

Very good tips, playing pool is not just good pocketing but a mind game also. The intention is obvious if you watch the play carefully.

You also have to know that Efren is a decent chess player. He always thinks several moves/shots ahead. And sometimes he’s just baiting you to make mistakes.

Efren is playing chess right now at the time of this writing at Buffalos in Metairie, he was in the big One Pocket Tournament that just finished over the weekend. I do say he was making some shots even at his age.

This is some great advice Bryan! i like where the player has a choice on whether to undershoot or overshoot the shot and still be okay. I'm going to have to remember that. Thanks for sharing!

Best tip. “Play the table” if have superior opponent!
@chrisross33
@chrisross33 3 жыл бұрын
I have been taught this rule as an "always", always play the table. One shouldn't think about their opponent. As you then might feel or become intimidated. As for the reason why, if you think about your opponent 5% of the time as it relates to your playing the game, then it takes 5% away from your conscious energy leaving you at 95%. Keep all your mental energy focused on winning the game.

I really like the contents of this video not the usual magical shot by Efren, but studying his strategies its like going into the mind of the genious,very educational the way he studiy his shot, the way he act with the crowds, when he scratch his head, look up above you might think hes in trouble but actually not hes just playing with the crowds, thats just some of Efrens magic.

My cue is a players brand 25+ years old. I'm considering a new one but I dont know the shaft pros & cons of the different shaft deflections ie standard / low & what I should go with. This was never an issue years ago. Being on a fixed income the next stick will need to be on the more inexpensive side. That being said I'm a big fan of you & your videos & support your channel. You have made me a better player. Thanks again

I think he was trying to make the three off the nine he also played a two way shot where if he missed he would be safe if he made it he would have the table laid out for him notice his position on the four he was also trying to knock the nine in a better spot because that’s an awkward spot for the money ball

I know you've done videos on the subject of jumping balls before. I can jump very well with my jump cue, but APA does not allow a jump cue. If you're going to jump you have to do it with your playing cue. I know they don't traditionally jump well but would you do a video on jumping with a playing cue? It's a trick I need but cannot seem to figure out.

Brian I have a different question for you would it be OK to buy the predator BK break jump Que instead of the BK break Que or would I be missing out on the Quality of the break?
@FXBilliards

The only thing you would give up would be a little bit of lightness in the jump cue side. I think the jump / break is just fine for most people.

Brian! I want to learn more about the difference between low deflection shafts and standard deflection shafts. The learning curve, the aiming differences, and how the physics are affected. I've heard and seen examples, but not enough on theory and practical differences in play.
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards 2 жыл бұрын
I think the predator site does a good job of explaining the answer to some of the questions - you should check it out. The bottom line is a little deflection KYU hits the ball straighter with or without English so the learning curve is actually reversed- it makes things easier to aim.
@joshmartin8856
@joshmartin8856 2 жыл бұрын
@@FXBilliards I watched your deflection video and a few others. I think I get it now, but trying to compensate for many years of high deflection is way more of a struggle than I expected with my new cue. Drills drills drills.

What does the three point rule mean in video at 07:20?
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards 3 жыл бұрын
Hello MAF. The three point roll means that you need to either get three balls on the break into the kitchen (Head string) or a combination of made balls and balls passed ahead string that equal three or higher. Example you can make one on the break and get two balls back to the head string to satisfy the rule. It’s designed to prevent soft brakes
