@@encracingteam4871 BMT was pretty easy if you ask me, just make sure you do what you're told. Also don't be element leader or dorm cheif it's not worth it...

Note for all, most Tech schools dont allow cell phones or smart watches in classes. Just keep that in mind

Man...watching this now in July of 2022 is crazy. To think that 20 years ago this summer, literally as we speak, I was there in tech school at Sheppard AFB in northern Texas. I remember feeling ridiculously happy and connected upon buying a little Sprint flip phone from the BX despite air time NOT being unlimited. That phone, in addition to the Sony Discman my parents bought me at BMT graduation, along with the little leather CD case full of my tunes and PS1 discs that my twin brother had brought me from home at graduation, made tech school a lot easier and allowed me to add in more sentimental value to the entire experience. Then when my roommate bought a small TV with the built-in VCR and a PS2, it was a GAME CHANGER (pardon the pun) getting to actually watch our favorite flicks and play games while there! Nowadays with these smartphones, tablets, Wi-Fi, etc etc, I imagine the overall experience mentally and emotionally is totally different...and not necessarily for the better.

Times have changed in the USAF Tech School. During 1981 we didn't have phases. We could start wearing civilian attire once we started Tech School (Block 1 Day 1). We could drive vehicles and drink alcoholic beverages (18 for beer & 21 for liquor) once we started Tech School. We could rent a portable TV and cable was extra. I wish we had laptops back then because we could play games, write messages to loved ones, and watch streaming channels.

Really appreciate y’all’s videos. They actually help and give me sort of an insight into what I’m getting my self into, although Ik all experiences are different, you do a great job at giving me just the basis of everything. I’m headed towards the AirForce so, crosses count.

Im about to start the whole process and setting up a appointment to see a AirForce recruiter i already did the online application, and i already get butterflies just thinking about everything but i just been watching helpful videos like these just to get myself more prepared and ready like i already been folding my clothes etc military way 🤣 but yea i highly appreciate videos like these thank you. Im looking to Go Active Duty then reserve but im debating on jobs civilian type shifts , like medical or maybe supply i just want something i can do and go to college at the same time or after my 4 year contract , Id like your opinion or anyone to suggest jobs i should try to go for. Thank you !

@@AbundantClips I took the ASVAB in September. Swore in October 1. Started BMT January 11. I can't speak to the best ASVAB strategy. I stuck to ASVAB for dummies and have a tech background already for my civilian job. I'm cyber transport/Networking

I would imagine probably not a lot, I didn't serve in any military US or otherwise. According Raymond Isaiah an Air Force KZfaqr that most likely has (and definitely in my opinion) the best video made on how to conduct yourself at a MEPS. One way to look at it is that in basic training and I believe tech school as well you're basically being tested on things such as addictions. Whatever you can't do OR think you will not be able to do without you won't have. Snacks ? Television ? Video sharing on internet ?¿ Please PLEASE Mackenna do not interpret this as intentionally annoying or trolling but what you describe sounds similar to what I've seen in boarding houses or group homes. However you're husband clearly explained some months back that just because the Air Force or military didn't really go well for him DOES-NOT mean that won't go well for anyone else. On the contrary It is an incredible opportunity to learn, travel, train, serve America, and possibly make life long friends. To sum it up it is by far and at large even if someone ends up in an MOS/job they didn't want it is what they make of it. I am curious to know if people are allowed to carry calculator or phone holsters on there belts like I do ?

I visit a Texas Air National Guard Recruiting office and bc I have a criminal dismiss case the officer said "We have 160+ clear and clean applications that don't require so much work as it would for you, we would have to put in so much work that we don't even know if you would get approved. Plus we are not desperate enough to be recruiting people off the streets like that... but in order to help you we recommend that you visit other military branches such as the Army,... they get any one. Not every gets to wear this uniform (has he slapped his thigh)"

The recruiter isn't wrong... but slapping their thigh and laughing about it isn't very professional or courteous. Try active duty, they have more seats to fill. Or go with the Army, you'll get more fun experiences there anyhow, and it wouldn't be hard to find your way into the ANG if that's ultimately your goal. We have tons of sister service accessions all over the TXANG.

If we were going into the AF as a public relations specialist. What type of laptop would u recommend having pc or Mac and are there any specific software programs we should consider having installed. Also, if we wanted to purchase a laptop after getting to tech school. Are there local stores nearby to do so

Please can someone help me! I’m going to Meps this Friday I don’t have a job list yet because my job options are limited as non US citizen, But the list of job I got from my recruiter do not interest me but I can do the medical which he said is not available. Do I insist on medical ? Also is it true that if you are a non us citizen after tech school you cannot be stationed abroad ?

Unless it changed, I believe everyone, regardless of AD/NG/Reserves, proceeds directly to tech school after BMT. Wouldn’t make a ton of sense for you to return home and wait on another set of orders to go to tech school. Best of luck.

@@ritam8712 for reserve components, training line numbers are issued for BMT and follow-on technical training (higher priority than Active Duty in fact). There is typically a break in training of a few days to a couple of weeks. During that time you'll be AFI (awaiting further instructions, not Air Force Instruction lulz), and generally assigned to some sort of mundane details like charge of quarters or some details sort of crew. TLDR; almost certain you will graduate and be AFI or in transit (depending on tech school location) for a few days to a couple of weeks.

Heyy what is your advice on which route I should go enlisted or officer I’ll be getting my bachelors degree next spring. If I want to be a pilot should I go enlisted first then officer or just officer?

I’d personally recommend try putting your package in for officer, and if you do not get selected, then enlisting may be your second option. Only officers can be pilots in the AF.

8.5 weeks. It's said as 7.5 because the first week of inprocessing is 0-week since it is typically filled with appointments and paperwork, along with learning the basics of dorm life and expectations.

you have the option of going home before tech i think up to 10 days

If you go to tech school during the holidays, you’ll get “Exodus” which is time to spend with your families back home. Then you’ll go straight back to school. Other than that, they’d have to come on base or meet you in the local area around base until you’re done.
