Nowadays that would be seen as cheating for sure. But they had an extreme advantage since they sang in english so I believe that was the reason and not jury advantage. Now so many nation sing in english and voila no advantage anymore.

Also in 90th there were a lot more new countries that spoke English better than French not mentioning that overall trend for French as international language in Europe slowly downgraded for decades in late XX century. You'd notice that if you closely looked at Eurovision winners. Most songs winning till mid 70th were French. Then it has been slowly overtook by English peeking in 90th already. And language rule was only abolished for good in 1999. You can't say it didn't play a role, the evidences for continuous French changed by English dominance are too bald.

That unfortunately didn't age well. Austria actually end up second from the end in the grand final. Although I'd say kahleen's we will rave would really deserve a place in the top 10, 5 or 3 or even to win. Yes about Iceland. But as of the rest of them... No. Not even close. There's absolutely no evidence for that. Also though, Iceland could have won in 2021 too instead of Italy if they hadn't got sick with covid and they could perform live in the final instead of just using their video from their last rehearsal or semi final performance. If that happened they'd be able to be more convincing to juries and more energy to their show so they could get even more of the audience to vote for them.

Yes. That's really quite true for sure . It would be them or Lithuania's or Iceland's first ( Iceland may have also won one once too tho) victory, who were also the other two fan favourites for the win and seemingly had truly good chances. Honestly I was mainly rooting for Lithuania bc apart of the fact they had and still haven't win ever again, I think their song had the most quality when it comes to the vocals and how it's music was written. But Iceland and Russia could be a quite quite great and actually pleasant turnout for me too, mainly bc of how fan and amusing song they were ( that also ofc had at least some good quality. )

You have to have the jury to balance out any corruption. Imagine if say, Portugal made some deal with say, Nigeria, and everyone in that country voted for Portugal even though their song might be shit. They get a crazy amount of televotes and possibly win! So yes, there are plenty of ways to manipulate online/phone voting

This has happend (probably) with sweden many times, sweden has gotten a lot of points from the jury even thogh the song is not that good , and i have to remind you that sweden is big in the music industry so its easier for them to lets say make everyone vote for them cuz there is ABBA 50th year anaversary.
