This video is all about my first few weeks in dental school at Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health.
I talk about Orientation week, what it was like meeting my classmates, why my fellow student doctors and I chose this program, and I discuss what the curriculum has been like so far, including what classes we are taking and how difficult it has been.

I have always wanted to go to ASDOH & this just re-excited my application process that I'm currently in. Blesss. Every single person at ASDOH has been overwhelmingly supportive, D1-D4 students, staff, & even the PT students lol. I hope you love it!!

Do you advise living near school like an apartment? Also, do you advise working a part time job while attending school?

I would definitely recommend living close to campus, at least for the first year. And I would definitely not recommend having a job, you won’t have time. School comes first!

Do you ever worry about your personal future goals like getting married or having kids? I really want to try for dental school but in the back of my mind I won’t be done until I’m 26... and I’m scared I won’t find time to do so. Am I the only one feeling this way?

Honestly, thats the last thing I’m worried about. There are a lot of students in my class getting married, or already married with kids. I wont be done until I’m 28 and I still feel like thats so young! I know a lot of people feel the same way you are feeling, but I think you can have it all!

The pass/fail system is interesting. How does that play into class rank/specializing?

They're working on it from what the admin has said XD

They mentioned that if we know we want to specialize to make sure the admin/faculty/instructors know so they can keep a close eye on us as our skills develop, so they can write letters of recommendation or whatever else we need when the time comes.

I was looking at dental school requirements and notice that there is a year of biology. Do you know if it matters what biology it is? Can I take a semester of general biology and a semester of microbiology or does it have to be the same course? Also, for physics can I take modern physics a semester and metaphysics the next semester?

Hey good question! I would say your best bet would be to call the programs you are considering applying to and ask directly so you know you are getting the most accurate answer :) schools are very nice about answering these questions.

helpful vid, ty will you ever make a video about student loans? ASDOH is so expensive and I've been accepted to a school that's has a similar price tag. It's making me hesitant about accepting tbh.

If its not too personal to ask, I was wondering how you pay for your rent for the apartment near campus if you don't work while in school? ASDOH sounds like an amazing school the more I hear you talk about it, I'm so glad I'm considering this school and am going to apply!

I am 100% living on school loans. When you apply to dental school make sure to complete the fafsa which calculates how much you will need for tuition and living expenses. From there you can either accept the full amount, or if you have supplemental income you can accept less loans. Hope this helps!

Yes it does! For the most part :) but I do think they change things up year to year to get students into clinic faster.

Hi jasmin is ASDOH a year round program? Or do you get certain times off? Also, in your previous video you said you had hundreds of dental hours and experience prior to admittance into a program; what experience exactly? I think that is what I am struggling with right now trying to get experience :)

Hi there! We do get breaks in my program. A week in the fall, a week for thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas, a week for spring break, and two weeks in the summer. Each program is different though, some have longer summers. I was a dental assistant for a few years, I shadowed a lot of different dentists, and I got involved with whatever the pre-dental club was doing :)

It’s a great program! Best of luck! Typically you will need 4 years of undergrad (bachelors degree), and 4 years of dental school then you’ll be good to go :)
