They’ve tried and failed in uniting against BJP in 2014 and 2019. That’s why no one wants to experiment yet again and lose what they have already to Mamta or BJP! I just don’t understand why parties can’t fight their own battle individually after all they are an independent party. If they are all ideologically the same, then why not merge and fight against a common enemy together as one party? They should only do post-poll alliance based on their individual strengths.

Probably Mr Sinha would always be remembered more as a Civil Servant, when he brought laurels to all the postings he held either at the State or at the Center. Civil Servants who are groomed in statutory and administrative frameworks find it very difficult to transition to electoral politics, which is based more on socio-political issues. They have to often adapt themselves to a world of ideology, social norms, culture and heritage.
