Actually, her approval ratings were lover when she got elected. And yes, I am well aware that the right wing of the CDU is worried about losing voters. We will see to what this kind of thinking leads in the upcoming elections in Bavaria. The CSU is currently bleeding votes, and not to the AfD, to the Greens and the Freien Wähler. Currently it wouldn't even get an absolute majority (something which once was a given for the CSU) in coalition with the AfD. Mmmm...maybe those politicians should stop blaming Merkel and instead realize that they stand waaaay more to gain if they worry about their moderate voters and not about the right fringe.

Please make a video about the German National Anthem. What do German people think about it? Are they eager to sing it?
@francescadibologna4143
@francescadibologna4143 5 жыл бұрын
that would be interesting to hear but some people might feel very awkward to be asked, which would be awkward to watch. but every country has a big part of their history they would rather learn from and move on. new generations should always be allowed to learn and move on from the bad history of their parents, as it's not their shame to bear. furthermore, all the big colonial and imperial powers (britain, spain, france, italy) were vile bullying bastards in their empire days, usually to defenceless africans or asians. as for national anthems, they are almost all offensive nationalistic rubbish. variations of 'we are the best and we will kill everyone else'. i never sing mine (britain). i think they should be banned at political rallies, the olympics etc and the orchestra should play 'twinkle twinkle little star' or 'chopsticks' instead. make everyone smile.
@patrykgorczynski419
@patrykgorczynski419 5 жыл бұрын
@@francescadibologna4143 from what I can see, Janusz likes asking awkward questions and surely gets different answers. Their secret is, what kind of answers they show. As the goal is to teach people German, I think they show the best (longest) conversations with people, aiming to be objective. What I am interested to see is what German people think about their present-day anthem, not the Nazi one. However, it is a common idea that the Nazi stanza is forbidden in Germany but in fact it is not. It is controversial, indeed, but not legally forbidden. Now my question would be similar to the episode: ‘Are you proud to be German?’, since, perhaps, bearing in mind the Nazi stanza, people choose not to sing the official anthem. I am also aware of the worldwide debate: ‘patriotism or nationalism?’; ‘Pride or vanity?’; the relation to the anthem depends on the nation. I just personally noticed that Germans tend to sing their anthem less eagerly than people from the U.S., Brazil or Italy.
@francescadibologna4143
@francescadibologna4143 5 жыл бұрын
it's an interesting question but i feel the easy german team may be observing the possibility that the anthem question may be percieved by some as provocative in a negative way. while answers in depth are often the most useful for language learners and those with an interest in the country and culture, grading topics for voxpops carefully (to avoid very heavy or contentious issues) is a judgment call that has to be made. similarly sending someone around asking about immigration or abortion etc. obviously there are important debates to be had about those issues, a time and a place, but i am not sure a youtube beginners german course is that time or place. at college or degree level german study, yes. but i think the (already posed) question 'are you proud to be german?' addresses aspects of the same issue, in a more ambiguous and sensitive way. a way that allows people to bring those issues into their answer if they want to address them, but doesn't focus on them. but it's a judgment call really. generally speaking, i think the easy german team do really well matching discussion topics to target language. i struggle so much trying to learn german (i found french and italian easier) but i love the language and culture, so i absolutely have to learn. to that end, finding learning resources that are living and insightful (rather than sterile and dry) really helps keep me interested.
@francescadibologna4143
@francescadibologna4143 5 жыл бұрын
ps. re "Janusz likes asking awkward questions and surely gets different answers". i totally agree with you there. i like his interviewing style a lot. rather than ask everyone the same question and just passively record the answers, i think he makes a 'rolling assessment' of each candidate as they give more information, and tailors his follow up questions to draw most from those he feels have most to give. hence the bavarian gentleman being very frank and open in his opinions, and others also being very open. i think they appreciate that janusz is a respectful interviewer and trust him with their sincerity. i hope we see more voxpops with him. he does them well.

I know she´s not the most perfect politician, but you don´t know the piece of "Müll" we have in Latin America, whether you like her or not, she manages Germany to be the best country (economically) in europe and by consequence, in the world. You should appreciate more what you have, you´re living in a first world country, there´s any perfect country, but you may know you´re in a really good position, many people in Latin America would wish to have politicians like that

@@freckleheckler6311 It's not so funny when explained. However, I'll do it: Following the Refugee Crisis, the politics of open borders and the welcoming of refugees was mostly associated with Merkel. That brought right-wing voters in Germany on the streets to demonstrate against these politics and particularly against Merkel as a politician. They saw her as a betrayer of the nation. Thus, their loudly screamed slogan was “Volksverrräter” meaning “Betrayer of the People”. The people in East Germany have a particular accent where “Volksverräter” sounds like “Volks-Fahrräder” meaning “Peoples Bicycles”. So when the right-wing voters in East Germany demonstrate against the refugee politics it sounds like they are begging Merkel to give them bicycles.

It depends. They like everyone who is educated, well maniered, has a will to learn and work good. Lazy people, notorious drunkers, criminals etc. are perceived badly no matter what country they came from. Watching this in 2020 thinking about 2021 and the next chancellor. I don't agree with all her views or more like her party's, but I have the highest respect for her. Even though many are often complaining I think she manage the country well through all the crisis. She really didn't have it easy and I honestly can't see any of the possible candidets measuring up to her (I hope one of them will, but I'm not sure). A few days I watched a video about what Germany and Europe will miss when she's not chancellor anymore amd I couldn't believe it myself, but eyes got a little watery already during the intro. Even though I was younger, I do remeber Schröder, but Most of my "aware life" she's been our leader and a good one at that.
