This is a GREAT question that the 1st son, Blake Hitzfield, is happy to share with you today.
We utilizing a few practices at Seven Sons Farms to keep our cattle fed and still 100% grassfed and grass-finished even during the cold Indiana winter months.
1) We bale some of our late summer and early fall forages and bring hay to the cattle out on pasture when there's snow on the ground.
2) We use a process called "Stockpile Grazing" to grow our grasses to 12 inches or higher in a certain percentage of our acreage. It's great for the cattle, and also MUCH better for the quality of the soil and the life in the soil
We hope this helps and that you appreciate all that we do to bring true USA-raised grassfed beef to you.
