Thanks for the in-depth guide to the VIGI ecosystem. You've answered all questions I've had about it. I will be buying VIGI cameras first and eventually add a NVR if and when I need it. Could you also review ReoLink and compare it to VIGI?

How well does it work with a HIK DVR compared to a HIK camera? I already have a four camera HIK system in my building.

The NVR supports the ONVIF which is the open standard, so yes you can use non TP-Link cameras with the NVR if they also support the open standard.

hi, I didn't understand one thing. if i buy 3 vigi cameras, 1 in poe and 2 in wifi. does it make sense to buy the 4 channel nvr? i mean the vigi camera in wifi how will it connect with the nvr without lan? thanks if you can clarify this for me

Good question. The NVR is not about the number of physical cables that will be connected it is about the amount of Ram and CPU it has to support a specific number of cameras. The more cameras the greater the amount of data to receive and process. Vigi wireless cameras will connect to your wireless network which will in turn be connect to your LAN which will be connected to your NVR, so if you have 3 cameras, whether wireless or wired and want to store the data you will need at least a 4 channel NVR. I hope this helps

Thank you for the in-depth info on the VIGI system, it has been most helpful. I do have 2 questions though and hope you can guide me. 1. If for example I installed 4 X Wi-Fi cameras connected to our local Wi-Fi. Can I view the Live Feed of all 4 at the same time or would I still need an NVR on the LAN? 2. If using the VIGI VMS software can I view the live feed of all Wireless and Wired Cameras simultaneously? Thank you!

Some good questions. 1. If you use the Windows App, then you should be able to view all 4 cameras at the same time without the need for the NVR. Not tested it myself, but in theory it shoudl work 2. You don;'t need VMS to be able to view wired and wireless cameras, you can just use the Windows app. The NVR will work with wired and wireless cameras at the same time, so that is an option for you. VMS is more a way of managing the data that is saved from the cameras, but could possibly be set up as you need. I would suggest as a starting point you get the Windows App and have a little play with it and see what features it will give you as I believe it will do all you need.

@@The_Tech_Geeks Thanks for the reply and answers. I now understand that VMS is not required. However, I am still unsure about being able to view all the feeds simultaneously. We have decided that we will end up purchasing an NVR for our purpose. At this stage I cannot test the simultaneous view as I have not bought any of the equipment yet and one of our requirements is that the owner can view all cameras, or at least 4 at a time on one screen using a phone. Do you guys have the infrastructure to test this? If not, I may need to find someone that has a Vigi system to test this before we layout the funds for purchasing the equipment. Thank again for your video and time taken to answer our questions

@@The_Tech_Geeks Sorry to be a pain. Just wanted to confirm that this screen capture was using the Vigi App on the phone? Tp-Link support are still saying it is not possible to view multiple live feeds.

Hello my dear friend Can you guide me, I need only one tp link c540v pan/tilt in the front side of my small row house. I will not be putting more cameras. So can I use it to monitor the camera with my android phone and my laptop the c540v camera? And is it possible to download the footage on my mobile or laptop without removing the sd card, or I have to install a poe splitter, nvr, as I have a wifi router. And if I need a nvr for just one camera then, what model I have to choose and do I need a poe splitter. Please guide me what is required for the model c540v camera which you showed in this video. If you just want one camera, then all you need is that one camera and an SD card installed in to it. You don't need an NVR and as long as it has internet access you can connect to the device and look at the storage footage as needed. If you purchase the wireless version then all you need to do is plug it in to the mains power to power it and no PoE is needed. I hope this helps

does the TPlnk vigi nvr will record sound from a camera with audio?

Yes. As long as the VIGI camera supports audio the NVR will record the Audio as well as the images.

Can I connect this camera to other brand's NVR or it will work with only TP-Link NVR?

TP-LINK Cameras support the ONVIF standard, so as long as your NVR supports that they should work with it. Do bear in mind that this means you will be able to get the footage stored to your NVR, but you may not be able to manage some of the advanced features of the camera.
