Panel discussion on life’s origins and future at the Nobel Week Dialogue 2022
The question of “What do life's origins tell us about life's future?” is discussed by Paola Caselli, Professor at the Max Plank Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, Andrea Ghez, Nobel Prize laureate in physics 2020, Benjamin List, Nobel Prize laureate in chemistry 2022, Paul Nurse, Nobel Prize laureate in physiology or medicine 2001, and Didier Queloz, Nobel Prize laureate in physics 2019.
At the 2022 Nobel Week Dialogue we looked towards our future in the hope of making life better, for everyone.
What do we hope for, what matters in life, what does a better future look like, and how far into that future should we be looking? By envisaging future scenarios, discussing how we want life to be in years to come and putting our imagination to work, we might influence the decisions we make now.
The Nobel Week Dialogue is an annual public conference bringing together a select group of the world's leading scientists, policy-makers and thinkers for a series of thought-provoking sessions on a topical science-related theme. With this event the Nobel Institutions aim to deepen the dialogue between the scientific community and the rest of society on issues connected with the Nobel Prize and of importance for the world.
Nobel Week Dialogue was produced by Nobel Prize Outreach in partnership with Carl Bennet AB, City of Gothenburg, Region Västra Götaland, Volvo.

The question of the origin of something is always fascinating...because it seems to me that it is impossible to give a simple answers to such question for a simple reason: time is infinite! However the remark given here by some of member of the panellists who I will share his astonishing observation the time unicellular has happened 3.5 billion years, however from that time untill the appearance of a multicellular entities it takes 3 billion years...! However he didn't mention the time required since the formation of earth until the appearance of the unicellular: 10 billion years!...now I guess that the live will disappear very soon!may within half billion years, unless otherwise!

No, we cannot say "it did happen" as you are making a guess about an event you can know anything about.

Abiogenesis is Impossible. The reason why you must engage in speculation & guesswork is because you are engaged in an impossibility. If abiogenesis was possible at all you could demonstrate it in a laboratory.
