Be it the BJP, the Congress, or either of the Shiv Senas, all political parties have heavily focused on women this election season. But what lies beyond manifesto promises and speeches?
Maharashtra has 44 million women voters and in Mumbai, the ladies compartment of local trains form a crucial mode for their mobility. Women across demographics travel in them everyday, braving crowds, stampedes and floods.
Newslaundry spent a day in the ladies compartment, speaking to women about their major concerns, the qualities they would like to see in political leaders, what aspects of the city needs improvement, and which political leader they resonate with.
From rising prices to the state of roads in Mumbai and increasing communal politics, women discussed their woes and hopes, days before polling on May 20.

This can’t be said in UP. There a religion is BJP it seems. It’s truly a wild reality that a political party is being treated as supreme whereas the regular people are being treated like garbage. Good they are speaking it out. What are the common person's needs? PM is focused on hindu muslim , temples, statues etc rather than unity, development in infrastructure and education. Social security is more important. Our country currently have temples and devotion places more than necessary.

There was a time when women fought with men who were on the bus sitting on his site but at the end it found he didn't have legs but he was forced to stand on one leg all other male and female on that bus were weaker than the man who had one leg so why can't there be reservation for man in train and bus if they also bought the site

These so called "educated" Women seem to be quite poorly educated about the Constitution or how India is run. Education, Healthcare is a State Subject, Mumbai civic issues, Mumbai local trains - these are State issues. These are not what the Prime Minister can solve. Private jobcuts, the price of LPG, Petrol, Diesel are again Market forces. Maybe Taxation is one issue that the Govt of India can deal with but everything else they are ignorant about.
