Great video as always Ronen, keep up the good work. Here's my list of what SUCCESSFUL Owner Operators Have in Common. Not in necessarily in this order. 1) Math Skills. 2) Partner with a carrier with ZERO company trucks. Very difficult these days but it was one of my best O/O experiences for what I hope is obvious. 3) Stay on top of your taxes at least quarterly if not monthly. 4) Mechanically inclined.

Best thing i can tell you stop looking at rates per mile. And understand cost plus time. O/o for 22 years . Sold out after illness work for a friend i still run it like my own my last 4 loads 18000 on 7000 miles . I have a good team of agents i work with. Already call my agents for next week after my week off will finish around 28000 for the month. I take my 32 percent on that. Once you know you're daily cost the rest is easy. Yes I am payed on a w2 these days. I make sure the truck makes profit so i stay employed and my boss stays in business.

The best advice and the more important would be to purchase a rust free truck and to find a reliable mechanic, also always do maintenance before breakdowns, if you do does 3 things your will be a successful Owner operator, and of course you have also to work for a good company too

@NorthAmerican-Trucking-News Sir, Perhaps we can speak sometime about a key issue in trucking, which is, for how many miles should a highway-driven, Class- 8, last for a non-engine idler, without major engine, transmission, differential or after-treatment system problems. My expectation of 10 years / 1,200,000 miles might be an overreach. But consider, the likes of PACCAR Lease are pricing the leases such that a lessee is paying for 90%+ of the (overpriced) purchase price inside of 4 years / 480,000 miles, whichever comes first; whereupon PACCAR Lease then hopes to get another US$100K for the residual value, even from that self same lessee (read, almost no transaction costs in the turnover). What is wrong with this picture?

Hello great video im an ild timer been trucking since 78 yes along time 1 point i have to make about a big hood truck that i own is i do heavy haul i need big horse power so im running 605 hp Cummins in a W 9 Kenworth , This type of work is rated so we can maintain a decent profit margin with specific equipment that is not fuel efficient , So is your a highway driver OTR running long distance you definitely need to have a arrow dynamic truck that is properly geared to run low RPM with a fuel economy in mind or with todays freight rates you wont survive very long to be honest i made more profits back in the late 70's into the 80's then now !! Good luck new drivers remember if your going to run long haul you need to get a truck that will get at least 8.5 miles per gallon or you wont last !!!

(1) The APU's are ABSURDLY expensive. A $500 diesel electric generator + a $400 smallest umaginable air conditioner + a $100 box to put the generator in, heck I'd pay triple that sum. Problem is, Carrier and Thermal King and the rest don't want triple, they want x12, that is $12,000, sometimes more. The small government folks need to rethink. What would help is smart government, which obviously CA and USA don't have. The Class 8 manufacturers should simply be required to include an APU with every sleeper berth equipt truck. The third-party aftermarket crap has produced a horrible result. As for heating, just use your bunk heater. The self-absorbed, stupid, stinking slobs who run engines all night, every night, can simply be sent to the wall. Then we can render their blubber to help defray the expenses they needlessly ran up.

Ronen roughly what do your trucks cost you in fuel per mile? I'm running a 2016 peterbilt 367 with 1.6 million km on the original paccar right now and it averages 1.00-1.55 CAD/mile depending on how heavy the load is and how over dimensional it is. Have you consulted with many RGN o/o's running areo trucks? I'm thinking about upgrading but I can't seem to find a single oversize guy that tracks their mileage.

We pulling in Alaska sets, 120 k on regular basis, when you have 12 axles, You have to have 46k rears with lockers. 12.9 motor won't last over 200k. Basically your fuel "efficient" truck needs engine rebuild in 2 years. I have DD16 in both of my trucks. On fuel efficiency, i do better than most on the fleet. Driving on flat ground 62 mph.

still not a guarantee to being successful, far more important to know your running cost per mile and not running cheap freight. Good rates are out there, sometimes it just takes sitting a day or 2 to get that good rate. Worked for me every time.

I love the hood trucks!! I'm not married I have no kids and I don't own a house. People spend money on things they desire. Well, I desire a hooded truck! Some say, that's ridiculous. But if you want an ugly plastic truck so you can afford the standard BS life, then more power to ya! I'm not one of those. I'm single, staying single... and living a fabulous life where I don't have to answer to no one but myself. So, my spending monies go to the hood!! I live in my truck and love a hood. I don't care what anyone thinks about my truck because it is what "I" like love to run. A lot of typical standard living individuals just don't get it... because they are indoctrinated within the standard living arrangements. Good for them!! I care Less.

My million mile peterbilt 367 (389 with a fiberglass hood) gets 8mpg if I'm light, not oversize and don't drive like a crazy maniac which I never have. Still hasn't beat my best truck tho, my 14 pete 388 with 600hp isx15 heavy spec loaded to 80,000lbs occasionally got 8's when the wind was on my side. But these new aero trucks are kill'n it now a days for sure, my parents new pete 579's been able to squeeze out over 10mpg loaded, its all about getting the correct spec truck for what your doing.
