Kawhi already has 2 chips, a Finals MVP trophy and at least another $150 million guaranteed in his pocket. Ever since that dirty Zaza play, he's never been the same. Props to Joel for trying to play through his injuries but he's 30 and realizes he may never have another chance to win a chip.

As much time as Leonard has missed since joining the Clippers and now again injured going into the playoffs and missed a few of the games and the Clippers loss in the first round. I can't believe the front office is happy about him playing in the Olympics, something could happen, and he gets hurt or blows out a knee and he's out half the season or more.

@gabemartin72
@gabemartin72 26 күн бұрын
Adam silver didn’t make those rules, the Spurs conceptualized that.. Silver made penalties for such especially when it was a major televised game. Everyone else tried to do what spurs started and did it well mind you, and failed badly. Now it’s abused excuse saying we are resting our key players only for them to be hurt during playoffs.
@michaeljohnson7945
@michaeljohnson7945 26 күн бұрын
Resting injured or exhausted players who need a break has become conflated with individual players who abused the system by using the leverage of guaranteed contracts and large paydays. For example, Ben Simmons refused to play for the 76ers anymore and then tried to sue the team to pay his contract. Kyrie Irving took weeks off without informing the head coach, or some of his other antics when he was in Brooklyn. In Kawhi Leonard's case, it's been known that he has a degenerative right knee that has curtailed his career. He also had an ACL tear and a torn meniscus in the same knee. He obviously is going to be on a minutes/games restriction. That's a different situation from players like Simmons and Irving who were finding ways not to play basketball while getting paid.

@@wesyoung9150 At this point, the Clippers' front office is fully culpable for choosing to pay Kawhi Leonard max deals, knowing how many games he's missed because of injury/load management. No one is forcing owner Steve Ballmer or general manager Lawrence Frank to give Leonard a three-year, $150 million extension in January after seeing him miss large chunks of seasons for years. Just like no one forced Ballmer and Frank to give Leonard a four-year, $176.27 million extension months after he suffered an ACL injury. At this point, we have to look at front offices for not controlling their spending practices.

Paul George has played in 60 more games than Kawhi Leonard has in their time with the Clippers. He missed the bulk of his time with a torn UCL in his right elbow in 2021-22. Even if you wanted to get rid of Kawhi Leonard who are you going to get to replace him with? When he is healthy he's definitely more reliable than James Harden and Paul George who both have a long history of choking in the playoffs. I don't know why they call Paul George ”Playoff P” unless the P is for piss poor. Nobody's going to leave on their own because every NBA player wants to live in LA, NYC or Miami especially if they're being paid well. The Clipper's owner is not going to get rid of any of them because he needs superstar names to bring in the fans and pay for that new stadium.

As a Toronto fan, we had Kawhi at the height of his powers. We wanted him to stay and run it back but in hind sight I'm glad we aren't married to him. I tolerated him because of how great he was playing but I found him to be a kook - completely aloof. We had built the team to get to this point and we knew we had a shot - this would not have worked in any other situation - it was completely bizarre that Kawhi wouldn;t even be on the bench for the games he was load managing - Lowry, Siakam, Serg, Fred basically plugged their nose and did what needed to be done. I don't think he is a bad guy but he is strange - comes off a selfish. He has his uncle in his year and he is trying to protect a future that is never going to happen - he will never be healthy enough to make it through a long playoff run at this point - his knees are full on shot and I don't think he is a "play through it" type of guy. He's finished - anyone with a big portion of their money tied up on him is in trouble.

Man said still nothing like the Lakers don’t have a chip; stop talking like rings are easy to get. This decade is only 3 full years in; the lakers had the first ring of the decade.

Harden, George, and Westbrook are fucked. They're not winning a championship. It doesn't matter where they go, they're not going anywhere near a finals trophy.

Thats the problem of todays NBA players, they dont have that Competitive Natures like the 90's NBA. TODAy's NBA have more skills than the 90's but having that Competitive or want.to compete, we cant see that anymore. Its sad.
