Today I will be showing you what 20 Dollars can get you in Caracas, Venezuela. As many of you may know, Venezuela has been suffering from hyper inflation for many years now and the problem is just getting worse everyday! At the time that I filmed this video 20 USD was 80 Million Bolívares and today, just a week later it is much worse! Today we will help out some local Venezuelan street workers, as well as check out a local mall here in Caracas to purchase a Venezuelan sim card. I hope you enjoy this tour through Caracas, Venezuela!

As a venezuelan living in the U.S. I can tell you from first hand experience that I bought groceries for my parent's household for a whole week with $20 about three years ago. Now the dollar is circulating freely in Venezuela and all of the sudden all prices are calculated based on the dollar, and everything is as expensive as in the U.S.

Man those bills look crispy new. It looks like the cost more than $20 to print. This is heartbreaking. My country Zimbabwe went through hyperinflation like this too until they dollarized the economy. Still going through growing pains due to a combination of bad leadership and sanctions, so I feel a kinship with Venezuela. I hope to visit my girlfriend's hometown of Cumana, Sucre one day. We have only visited Colombia together.

Great video, thanks for sharing ....America is currently plagued by the hydra-headed evil duo of inflation and recession. The worst part about this recession is that consumers are racking up credit card debt. In April alone, credit card debt went up 20% while rates have doubled in a year. Inflation is so high that consumers are literally taking debt for basic life necessities. Collapse has indeed begun. Layoffs will get worse. Which is why I'm looking to enter the market now and ride along as the economy gets back on track. I’m building a $550k portfolio. Any stock recommendations?

I've mixed feelings watching this because I could see my hometown; where I was born and grew up and that made me happy, but there aren't enough people on the streets or malls as I used to see and there are some commercials which are closed, so that made me feel a little bit sad, too. I’m not living there now, but I’d like to visit my family someday. I hope you can enjoy your trip there and everything goes well for you and Gladys.

Philippines is cheaper. You can get a meal at a cheap restaurant for under a dollar. As an american who is single, the only reason I would possibly live in Venezuela is because the women are beautiful. Though it has a level 4 warning so it might be dangerous. I like Venezuelans.

@@Travelwithchris I hope you have a great time in Caracas. Maybe your friends can take you to el Barrio San Agustin. I wouldn't pay the tour prices because in my opinion they are too high for what you get in return. Also, try to go to the Humboldt Hotel for a nice view of Caracas from the Avila Mountain.

So basically Venezuela is becoming like Ecuador. Just in Ecuador they make a decent minimum wage per month. That’s crazy even $120 per month isn’t enough in Venezuela. It wouldn’t be enough in Ecuador. That’s why they make $480 minimum salary. Good jobs make $800 per month. Professional industry workers can make like $2,000 a month in Ecuador. That’s rough. Venezuela can’t escape it’s dire situación. From any vantage point.

If someone had silver coins in Venezuela, would that help? Would it be easy to exchange silver coins to their currency in order to buy some food? If it easy to find food if you have the money, or is there a limit that the government allows you to buy?

Noone knows how to exchange goods for precious metals, even in coin form. US silver dollar SAYS it a dollar, but you waste it by using it as such.
