Here's my story: I was the scapegoat in my primary school, being bullied at least once every week. We were sent to the principal several time, who advised me to retaliate against bullies instead of letting the bully have his own fun. And so I did. And I got scolded for retaliation.

My dad was the high school principal at my school, (and my high school principal). Over a decade after graduation I talk to former alumni that told me how my dad was the only reason they made it through school, helped foster kids get into better homes, talk them out of suicide, and be the only person in some students lives that believed in them ever. I don’t think I’ll even be a high school principal, but I do hope to be half the man my father was.

My High School Principal got in BIG trouble for doctoring the grades of his daughter, so she could become valedictorian and get into a fancy university. (This happened after I graduated) He got caught and it made national news... He was fired and disgraced and I think he had to leave the community.

Usually a Master's in educational leadership is required. Minimum of 3 years of teaching to get into the degree program. Excellent video as usual. Very accurate and well researched. The last time I was involved in education the average tenure for a principal was 5 years.

I can promise anyone who watched this that the principal described in this video is only going to be found at very large and very prestigious schools (likely a private school). A principal at a public school might have only had a history teaching a few years of classes and maybe also the football coach for the schools football team. The principal at a public school is usually the winner of an administrative popularity contest rather than having any of the qualifications in the first half of this video.

From a child's frame of reference when I had one of them... it's hard to incorporate their memory into this... but I will say: the ones I can remember were trying to listen... and help as they could.

When I was in highschool our principle was pretty cool. He was almost the complete opposite of things mentioned here. Though he got the job done and would let you know when you were out of line.

I remember in middle school my principle was bias and mean. I had two cousins who also attended this school, and both were nightmares to all the teachers they had, and they were always sent to the principle office. The only one who liked them was my gym teacher. When I told my gym teacher that was related to them, she was nicer to me, but then the principle found out. She became rude and when I was crying in class, she basically told me to be quiet and to stop crying. The annoying part is if you talked to anyone about me and my two cousins, they'll tell you that I'm more quiet and reserved than the other two. And don't even get me started with the vice principle.

I remember at my high school we got a new principal who come from a school that was doing well. My school was considered a “low performing school” due to low standardized test schools and overall academic performance. He couldn’t take it and ended up resigning after only 3 months on the job.

I was once sent to principal by teacher to ask her whether it is okay to blabber with your classmates during class by using my "freedom of speech". I came back and said to my teacher that "Principal is not currently available, and vice principal told me to tell you to stop sending students to principal's office in matters like this and send them to school counselor instead". Teacher was blushing and the whole class laughed. :D
