Yes this is why I am subscribed. The artificial pop generator is at the forefront of skateboarding technology and we are in awe at its magnificence. Truly we are living in historical times, and the only question remaining is: has science gone too far?

IMO the flight decks are better, I was always and Almost guy, specifically Rodney Mullen pro models but I'd tried all their other special models as well. The Flight decks use a weave around the truck area that completely negates pressure cracks, and I love that I can have a deck last 3 months or more in a pinch, compared to the couple of weeks I get out of normal maple decks 😅 One thing to mention about the difference in pop, its less that they pop significantly better when new but more that they don't get soggy. You know how a maple deck will start to flex more and if it gets wet at all it just turns soft, the carbon decks just straight up don't do that, the only thing that effects your pop long term is the razor tail (which is basically the same as regular maple).

My problem with all of these carbon infused decks is they razor too quickly. Is there a model where the outer edges are completely wood but one layer inside is both made of wood carbon. One will layer will have like a ring maple surrounding it.

For real, I purchased an Anderson flight deck this summer, keep in mind I skate a lot almost every day, it has not lost its pop, didn't chip a bit, has kept most of its shape, barely razor tailed compared to usual boards, it still has a good other 3 to 4 months

Ive owned all the carbon fiber boards. The structural rigidity of the board lasts alot longer than a normal deck, but it chips away faster, so its kind of a give and take. I personally think its because the carbon fiber layers vibrate differently than wood under force, so they tend to separate more causing pockets to form and chip away. I bought into the hype and feel dumb for it. 3 flight decks, 3 double impacts, 1 vx deck, etc. I buy them when they're on sale for usually about $60 and still feel alittle dumb in hindsight Buying 2 or 3 shop decks for the same price of one carbon fiber board is a way better investment imo

Buy a flight deck, mine hasn't chipped in 5 months of 3 skating days each week honestly Powell is the best brand for unusual products

All I have are the Impact Lights and have been enjoying those. For me the Carbon Fiber right at the trucks didn't make sense because not everyone lands bolts all the time. Thank you for this detailed experiment and video.

Nice job controlling your variables. I am also pleased to see that you performed several replicate measurements - the more replicates, the more descriptive the experiment is as a model. I would definitely secure the base of the pop simulator and maybe grease the slides to ensure you are getting consistently applied force. Nice work!

Almost my first CF deck, At first glance I really like it until I noticed I get tired really quick from skating this deck+ace Af1. I noticed it very heavy compare to normal deck. The advantage of this deck is you won't be worried if do any lip trick like one time I attempt a nollie heel backlip and it really bend I thought it will left any crack but it doesn't.

Ace trucks are some of the heaviest in the market. That's why you get tired quicker. It has nothing to do with the carbon fiber aspect.

Unless you're doing 10 stairs you don't need it. The main problem is razor tail
@skatedadcanada

Been riding Powell Flight decks for the last year, and can confirm that Razor tail is no different than any other deck and that the carbon is beneficial for more than just big drops. I haven't snapped a deck on a boardslide since making switch, and they don't chip as easily either. Went from going through a deck every week or two to being able to make a deck last 3 months in a pinch. The carbon fiber decks are much more than just a gimmick.

That only matters if it's cheaper. Powell flight decks are crazy expensive. I guess it makes sense for heavier skaters. But the almost boards only reinforce the truck section
@homelochino3864

@@Just_SK8mine hasn't chipped in 5 months so far, it even got ran over, and if you think of it on the long term, an 80 to 100 flight deck that lasts let's say 3 to 6 months depending on how you skate, is better than a 40-60 dollar board that is disfigured by month 3 and loses its pop
@skatedadcanada
@skatedadcanada 6 ай бұрын
@@Just_SK8 crazy expensive until you do some math, at 150 CAD for a Flight deck and 80-100 for a regular pro model (I used to ride Mullen pro models almost exclusively), a couple of weeks for a regular deck and upwards of a few months on a Flight deck, I'm saving well over 100 bucks each time I buy a deck. 100@2 weeks, say 4 weeks in a month for easy math (and because if you account for the extra days then I save even more money), makes 600 in 3 months to the 150 for a flight deck.
