Nice reaction! The drummer here was Hideki Aoyama, and no, this isn't his natural hair xd. He and Leda Cygnus wear wigs when supporting Babymetal. This performance was in 2015 when Su was 17 and Moa and Yui were 15 =)

you forgot to tell him that Babymetal is the reason that other female bands have their success now. Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophelia and others came after they saw the success of Babymetal overseas. some of Nemophelia are hard core Babymetal fans. and that Babymetal was partly formed to help Japanese metal and if you look at the japanese metal scene now it is on fire.

No female bands existed before Babymetal. Look, I love BM, but don't be a weird fucking weirdo. Breeders, Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill, The Bangles, L7, TLC, Salt n Pepa, and that's just off the top. And none of those bands had any men in them at all unlike our fave band of the moment *cough* Babymetal. Ray, with all due respect, get your head outta your ass. If you want to pay respects to BM, this is not the way my dude.

I think, everyone aiming for success, but the reason why Japanese band getting more famous isn't just because Babymetal.. The biggest role for making Japanese band known outside Japan is Anime opening & Ending.. I mean, you know how popular anime is.. Some anime using some metal music for their intro, for example Attack on Titan's latest OP, Vinland Saga OP, Death Note OP, Parasyte OP, etc..

This is the closing song of their show (they always end with "See ya!" before walking off stage) with 20k in the crowd. Since then, we've lost one of the guitarists of the Kami band, Mikio Fujioka in a falling accident (RIP) and Yui-metal (stage left initially) left Babymetal for personal reasons. Kami means God in Japanese, so the band members are dressed as Japanese deities/ghosts as they are supposedly summoned by the Fox God. This is also why the Babymetal sign is not the traditional horns 🤘🏻 but the two middle fingers and thumb form the face of a fox. Kitsune in Japanese. Babymetal have always had this mystic mythological aura around them. 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻

Interesting your guest picked up on how they include their audience. That is what the "We Are" chant is about in the end. That's not Babymetal yelling "look at us" or seeking promotion of themselves. It's a statement that "We" is them and the audience. "We are Babymetal" is acknowledgement that Babymetal is the girls and their audience, and the interactions between them, which is what Babymetal is all about.

There are several things I notice about this performance. First is Su-metal has the most penetrating death metal stare at the beginning when she parts the crowd for the platform. Second, Su not only has a great voice, but also a powerful voice. Third, her crowd control and interaction is commanding. Her confidence is unmistakable. She looks across the crowd so people in the audience will think, "Oh. She's looking at me." That gets the entire crowd into it. Then there are Yui and Moa. As the younger sisters in the band they have a special bond. I always thought of them as twins because they are so close in age. Think that this was when the Babymetal ages ranged from 14-16 years old. The Kami band has some of the most talented musicians in the world. When I first heard this song, my first thought was DragonForce. Well I'll be hornswoggled. Herman Li and Sam Totman made quest appearances. They are huge fans of Japanese metal.

Although Moa and Yui technically aren't sisters, many people just consider them sisters as they are very close to each other. I'm pretty sure it was very hard on especially Moa when Yui had to leave the band for health reasons. Thankfully they still keep in touch from what I understand. If my memory serves me correctly, Su was 17 in this performance while Moa and Yui were 15. Babymetal is pretty well known to not only include the fans in their songs, but to also consider the fans as part of the group in general. Moa, Yui, and Su all love the fans as much as the fans love them. This is very apparent if you watch youtube videos where they perform in other countries. You can see Su speak to the fans in their mother tongues. So she has learned to speak a couple sentences in Polish, English, Finish, French, German, and other languages as well, all to show the fans her respect and admiration for them. To make them feel just as important as the Japanese fans. Anyhow, I totally agree with you though, mad respect for Su and Moa for everything they do! This world needs this band!

As a matter of fact, all these Japanese bands are filled with love (愛). This definitely goes both ways. This is what music and fandom should be.

Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce guested on the album recording of this but the live performance with the Kami Band is truly epic. The perfect choice of performance to introduce someone to the unique sound and sight of Babymetal. PS At the end, Su shouts three times "We are..." and Yui, Moa and the crowd respond with "...Babymetal!" but they also then went and did the same thing on the right and left sides of the stage, on the two bridges that were there, before heading back to the centre for the final shout. The drummer somehow kept that ridiculously fast kick drum beat going throughout.

Also, I had to boost the sound 2.5 times to get it anywhere near the volume of most other video on KZfaq (and suffered biggly for not turning it down when I playing my next video), which I think I've had to do with a lot of your videos - strange, but I guess you weren't a sound tech as a roadie 🙂

BABYMETAL is a "work of art" created by a group of talented people. It might be better to call them a project rather than a band. That may be the element that makes purists cringe.
