i just noticed that the fibre in the outside termination box is not wrapped properly thus could affect the speed you get. The fibre in this position could lead to it breaking if moved in any way. If i was you i would close it carefully and put the screw back in to keep it closed.

great video, did you have the option to have the internal house connection (nbn router) placed in a more central room to your house ? or do they just stick it inside the nearest wall to the outside connection point ?

It was installed before I got the house but it is not near this point it is in the garage on the other side of the house. Fiber runs to there

great video I have fibre-to-the-premises and my light is flashing orange in UNI-D2. that because I have a device capable of reaching 1000Mbps connected. I'm not on 1000Mbps at the moment. LABORS NBN was all about future proofing the vast majority of the nation.

All well and good, I am a fibre engineer but to fit this you need the bt accreditation which costs £1500 , so thats £1500 i would have to pay in order to go to work, thats not good for anyone!!!

Bell caanada here in Toronto used to use this setup with a separate battery and the NTD but now they have it as an all in one unit. Overall network reliability has also improved as in major cities power delivery is more reliable as well. I have had two outages this year for 10 minutes each and these were due to a car plowing into and dislocating a power transformer at ground level within a kilometer of my residence. (Same guy both times unfortunately the second time he got electrocute but was also drinking and driving. Karma is a bitch then you get 40,000 votes at 200 amps poured into you creating a crispy critter. All that was left was some burnt ends)

Outside your house one which is near the dinning room area/master bedroom right? You will get the most WIFI signal; if use the Garage NBN port, you needs to get MESH capable router, in order to cover the whole premise

It probably makes no difference to the output speed. I did a test on 50m fibre cable that was wound and bend out of spec.. still got near 10gbps... but that is only 50metres.. when we talk about 50km there are issues then I suppose?

Mate what is the media converter used to convertor from fibre to Ethernet? That is too much electronics for a simple fibre connection. Should have just had one modern router with fibre SPF in it.
@Marksreviewsandtutorials
@Marksreviewsandtutorials 6 жыл бұрын
That is just the standard NBN supplied converter. The fibre runs to there and UNI-D1 & 2 connections come out of it..there is then a cable from this converter to a wall socket that has multiple connections throughout the house..
@AmiteshNaidu
@AmiteshNaidu 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, that converter looks terrible. old, bulky and requires power. There are so many better built, cheaper, smarter and sexier ones on the maket now.

It's not a media converter it is a NTD/ONU. Whilst the UPS/PSU and NTD/ONU could be condensed into a smaller unit this is better than a combined 'router' and ONU as you can use your own router of choice. I believe you also mean SFP not SPF. SFP is not used by any consumer device.

FTTP in Australia, one optical fibre can have up to 4 AVC's, (UniD-1 to UNID-4). NBN does offer 1000/400 AVC's but its in the order of THOUSANDS of dollars per month.

@ChannelReuploads9451
@ChannelReuploads9451 3 жыл бұрын
@@tshepp89 Yes but most people have a price point, especially those on a fixed budget. Mine is $70 a month. Secondly, most home consumer grade routers will not hit 1000 on WAN (as evident in the Unofficial AussieBB Support forums because of the CPU limits in most home grade Routers. So why double my monthly outlay, for a situation where if I download at 25mbit I just let the download do its thing and go do something else, Anyway, on FTTH/P, my 25mbit seems to softcap at about 30mbit anyway, given that AussieBB use faster speed profile and artificially cap.

Oddly we have the blue fibre coming in to the box on the wall, but only fttc was booked and the nbnco website confirms we have fttc. Between nbnco and our dipsh*t isp Mate, we have had no internet for 2 weeks now though. Nbnco missed the final appointment, no one told us, and Mate told us to try again next year...

NBN Co Australia finally in the process of upgrading FTTC/FTTN to FTTP. My ISP offering free upgrade. Currently on 100Mbps plan ($100 month) which is good enough for me. If I want the free upgrade from FTTC connection to FTTP now, my ISP want me to choose another plan which can't be the same or lower. So the next level for me to choose is 210Mbps for $130 month). Or i can just wait for NBN Co to roll out fibre to premises which they said they hoping to complete 90% by 2025. On my current NBN plan i'm getting 95Mbps which i can't complaint considering my connection is FTTC. So don't really see the urgency in upgrading.
