Companies often have a mixed bag of leaders-some loved and some hated. This happens because different people have different ideas of what a good leader is. That is why being a good leader also includes making everyone agree on what leadership actually means.
If everyone in a company agrees on the attributes that define a good leader, such as being inspiring, supportive, etc., they can create a better work environment for everyone.
Companies should all decide together what good leadership looks like. This way, they can attract the right kind of leaders who can stand beside them in creating the future of work.

Most don't even know how to do that first part "self-development" they look to other leaders, it's a soul journey not an industry journey.

Your assessment may be due to your age and lack of hands-on corporate leadership. Can you share examples of the leadership transformations you have delivered or identified? If leadership is indeed changing, where are the results manifesting? Who are the "WE" you refer to? Were your leaders bad, or were you a bad employee? There's a theme to your frequent stories about bad bosses. How hard and for how long did you try to work with a bad leader? What efforts did you make to improve the relationship? A CEO asking you to get him a cup of coffee hardly makes him a bad boss. Of the 140 CEOs answering the "first question," how did you decide what their answers meant? You'll only know what makes a good leader once you spend a few years working with the existing leadership team, their culture, and politics and accomplishing your goals in that environment.
