@@micklumsden3956 People come into the embrace of their Father dressed any way. The difference is that someone truly repentant & who has a relationship with the Holy Spirit will fill the conviction to dress modestly as they grow in His presence. A genuine man of God wants to see his sister's on the path to heaven & not gratifying your flesh to see them scantily dressed...

A lot of guys think that just because they are men they don't have to wear shirts. You know because they say it's nothing private. Well let me tell you, women can be tempted when she see a man's naked chest! Please women and men cover up!

My name is Christian & im a 16 year old girl who has been struggling with the topic of modesty. I’ve never really been the type to wear revealing clothes, even before I was saved. Although, I’ve come to learn that some aspects of clothes can be wrong & that we are supposed to honor God with our bodies along with our heart, mind, soul & strength. I enjoy wearing short sleeved shirts, sweaters, wide or even baggy pants, t-shirts, and wearing shorts that stop at the knees, but they still show my lower legs. Lately, I’ve been feeling very heart broken about what I wear & what I can wear because I constantly hear that showing any form of skin is wrong & can cause men to stumble. I hate to feel like women can’t live without being objectified in every way when they aren’t even dressed inappropriately, even in the church! I’m not saying to wear shorts at church but I mean to wear these kinds of clothes in everyday life. When I hear men saying that when women wear shirts with words on it or even when they wear loose fitting pants, it makes them stumble. It makes me question why I was even made to exist, & to exist as a girl on top of that. If a girl can’t simply exist when she’s not even dressed provocatively, then what’s the point of even being a person with feelings & emotions & a SOUL. I know that it’s not right to question my existence when I know the reason is to glorify God, so I will pray about that, and I would also ask if you could pray for me too. It just hurts to know that it can be so much as just walking & brother in Christ would claim that you’re making them stumble. When in reality you aren’t seeking attention in your clothes you are just existing like they are. Is it wrong to have a body that I’m not trying to show off? How much am I supposed to cover up? Is it wrong to like the clothes that I like? Is it wrong to like cute clothes? Do I have to cover myself from head to toe since Jesus said to not be a stumbling block. Is it wrong to show my arms or lower legs when men can? I just don’t think it’s fair that women have to constantly think about every breath or step they take & develop self-consciousness while wondering if they are causing a man to stumble or not, especially godly men.

Hey Christian, please don't beat yourself up over this. You job is to seek to honor God with your body. Your job is to be the Holy Spirit for your brothers in Christ. Your clothing does not cause sin; the sin because they yield to the temptation from within themselves. Jesus said: --"For , murders, , thefts, false witness, blasphemies" (Matt 15:19) --"And he said, that defileth the man. For murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things , and defile the man." (Mark 7:20-23) --"But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in ." (Matt 5:28) Women’s clothing never causes men to lust. If men lust, it is only because their impure heart makes use of an available outlet for its desires. Jesus said sexual immorality comes out of one's heart. The heart manufactures it. What we see merely creates a conduit for the internal impurity to be exported. The revealing clothing is revealing the man's own heart condition. Of course if a women has a sinful desire to elicit that gaze, that is wrong. But if her heart is right, she isn't responsible for the man's sinful heart.

As a 30 year old wife and mother. I try to dress in a way that is clean but that brings out my femininity. I still dress with short sleeves, covering my cleavage, and knee shorts for the summer. I dont have a problem with it at all. Because it makes me feel comfortable as well. But I have a current problem where I'm trying to pick a new bathing suits with a loose bathing shirt and shorts either above the knee or mid thigh length. And I feel that I'm not trying to cause men nor women to stumble but I just want to wear shorts this year as a bathing suit instead of knee pants. (Which all modesty bathing suits that cover what I want are SKIN tight) I struggle to. But my heart just wants to have fun with my family in a comfortable way. That's all.

Ok i love an opinion. I have a bathing suit that covers my shoulders and knees. But it is SKINN tight. It was all I could find last year. I don't like how skin-tight it is. This year, I'm thinking of buying a loose bathing shirt and loose shorts. Like shorts that goes slightly above the knee or at the half thigh. Because it won't be skin tight, I believe I will not allow others to stumble since last year I got stared a lot ( probably because most of my skin was covered since that's not common or because it was skin tight) So I'm wondering if that's something I could get. I don't want attention of other people nor do I want it for attraction. I want something comfortable where I can have fun with my family. Opinions are welcome!

So, the instruction to women in the early church is essentially not to follow the high society trends of the day (in respect to adornment with expensive items) - that's about it from the Apostles aside from Paul telling us that God shields our 'less honourable' parts, which should be principally seen to be referring to our inner bodily organs. Then we come to the Apostolic era use of the Roman baths, not just for recreation, but also for baptisms, which early liturgy shows was practiced naked (not surprising seeing working and exercising unclothed was common in the Roman world). Finally, we come to the teaching of Jesus Himself who tells us not to worry about clothes and points to the 'dress' God Himself grants (i.e. to the flowers of the field) as to why. If we combine all of this together, then it's pretty clear we often confuse 'good' modesty with ideology in the manner C S Lewis shows is dangerous in his essay on Equality (ideas which inform bad practice). The fundamental basis for our view on these matters must be the original work in Creation (where the body is deemed very good) and the divine work of redemption which renews this estate forever (Romans 8, 1 Corinthians 15). If we deviate from these essentials, then we quickly conform to a 'form of godliness' which actually denies the true power and purpose of God's magisterial work amongst us (Colossians 2). The problem, of course, is not just skin deep (Romans 7), which is why the only solution is not cleverly devised notions of godliness, but being married to the sole work of redemption - the death and resurrection of Jesus (Romans 6). This alone renews and makes us marked again as those who bear the likeness of the most high.

I am very shocked at some of your content. As a man, I find it demeaning. You seem to assume that all men, if they see some female flesh, will be overcome by lust. I would say that if your circle of male friends are like that, you should be preparing a video for them to deal with the issue. The Bible teaches that the fruit of the spirit is self control. If particular men do not have self control, they should pray and take action so that they can treat all women with respect, regardless of how they are dressed. To say that men are weak and sinful, and therefore women are not free to dress as they please is to blame and punish the wrong person. No, if a man cannot control his own passions, he should absent himself from society, until he learns to do so. I find it truly shocking that you focus on the behaviour of the woman, rather than the man who is lusting after her. It’s back to the garden of Eden, where God asks Adam, what he has done. Of course, he ate the fruit, but what does he say? He says it’s the fault of the woman! I’m afraid that it’s true, that Christianity has a long history of men disrespecting women. It seems it’s not a thing of the past.

Wow. What a misunderstanding about Biblical modesty. The definition of modesty in this video is heavily influenced by culture an society. When you look at modesty from purely a biblical view you will get a different definition. 1Timothy 2:9-10 talks about modesty and it doesn't talk about covering up or lack of clothing, it actually refers to excessive clothing and being extravagant in your dressing. And in verse 10 Paul tells if that proper dressing is bring clothed with good works, again it's not about physical clothes.

John G. Paton was a missionary who evangelised a violent island where everyone, both men and woman, wear little to no clothing. In his book, The Story of John G. Paton or Thirty Years Among South Sea Cannibals, John G. Paton records this incident about a native man and woman who became Christians and then wanted to marry but feared they would be killed because there were a few men who wanted to marry the woman: "In a few seconds, Yakin entered and if Nelwang’s bearing and appearance were rather inconsistent with the feeling of worship (he was wearing a shirt, kilt and tommahawk, John G. Paton felt it inappropriate to wear an emblem of violence to church)- and what on earth was I to do when the figure and costume of Yakin began to reveal itself marching in? The first visible difference betwixt a Heathen and a Christian is that the Christian wears some clothing, the Heathen wears none. Yakin had determined to show the extent of her Christianity by the amount of clothing she could carry upon her person. Being a Chief’s widow before she became Nelwang’s bride, she had some idea of state occasions and appeared dressed in every article of European apparel, mostly portions of male attire, that she could beg or borrow from about the premises! Her bridal gown was a man’s drab-coloured great-coat, put on above her native grass skirts and sweeping down to her heels, buttoned tight. Over this she had hung on a vest and above that, again, most amazing of all, she had superinduced a pair of men's trousers, planting the body of them on her neck and shoulders and leaving her head and face looking out from between the legs - a leg from either side streaming over her bosom, arid, dangling down absurdly in front! Fastened to the one shoulder also there was a red shirt and to the other a striped shirt waving about her like wings as she sailed along. Around her head, a red shirt had been twisted like a turban, and her notions of art demanded that a sleeve thereof should have a loft over each of her ears! She seemed to be a moving monster-loaded with a mass of rags. The day was excessively hot, and the perspiration poured over her face in streams. She, too, sat as near to me as she could get on the woman’s side of the church. Nelwang looked at me and then at her smiling quietly, as if to say, “You never saw in all your white world, a bride so grandly dressed!” I little thought what I was bringing on myself when I urged them to come to church. The sight of that poor creature sweltering before me constrained me for once to make the service very short - perhaps the shortest I ever conducted in all my life! The day ended in peace. The two souls were extremely happy, and I praised God that what might have been a scene of bloodshed had closed thus, even though it were in a kind of wild grotesquerie!"

Let it be men or women, can you give a rationale on how you honor and glorify God by wearing revealing clothes or clothes that exposes much of your body? Likewise how do you honor and glorify God by wearing modest clothes? It was written in the Scripture, in whatever you do, do it all for the honor and glory of God. Hence, as Christians or someone who is of God, there must be a reason align in the Scripure why you behave or appear to look in that certain way. Peace 🌿✝️

This is nice to hear. Lately, it seems like there has been some kind of obsession with modest dress with women but in fact, it’s nothing more than frumpy. For me personally, I love makeup. I love pretty clothes. I also love many pretty things besides. This isn’t a sin. I used to be a hairstylist so this modesty argument would fall into the immodest category. I refuse to believe that putting color on freshly cut hairstyle is a sin. I hear the reasons for their convictions, however when you place your personal convictions on others, it’s legalism. The Bible speaks against this too. Philippians 4:8 gives a great example as does 1 Cor 10:13. I have no problem with over the top modest dress for women, I do have a problem with it being directed as sin towards women who don’t dress in this manner. There are many lovely ways to dress modestly-which yes, I think is Christ-like, and we ladies should be modest, just please, not frumpy. 😉

Like the video said, it’s all the matter of the heart. If you dress to get attention, your heart says, “God’s wanting me is not enough.” If you dress modestly and appreciate the face, body with blemish and color of your hair, your heart says, “God made me beautiful. I am beautiful because He is beautiful.” A heart of gratitude towards our maker and if married, a heart of respect towards one’s husband.

No where does it say that men should dress modestly. Men and women are made differently which is why I believe it’s not addressed. This in no means condones sensuality but men are not called to dress modestly, they’re men.
@bisou4405

Do you even know the definition of modesty? Modesty is a mode of dress and deportment which intends to avoid the encouraging of sexual attraction in others. So dressing immodestly is causing sexual attraction in others and there are ways some men dress for example really tight shirts to show of their muscles or tight jeans or unnecessarily walking around shirtless. If you believe or not, women also deal with temptation and lust. But I don’t know maybe you never heard of it (like many other men), because women tend to hide this struggle since it is only addressed in regard to men which is why women think that if they would address it they could appear less feminine.

13 Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. 14 I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. 15 For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. 16 So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. 19 So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding. 20 Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats. 21 It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.[a] 22 The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.

So you're telling me that this video claims that modesty is more important than anything else in God's eyes and that perception is your irrefutable proof that God does not exist? Religion (or lack thereof) is a very personal matter--I don't care what you believe so long as you don't disrespect the beliefs of others or bring harm to people. It's infuriating when people try to act like they understand religions that they have never been a part of and then use their so-called 'knowledge' to bash other peoples' beliefs. What do you get out of commenting on this video? You clearly have very limited insight on Christianity.

This is an awful argument. Going off Christian theology If doing these things leads to sin which leads to death it would be evil for God to not care and let us revel in the evil. It would be like a parent watching their kid throw their head onto a rock and just going “well it’s their right.” If he is a good God then he must tell us what is good.
