What does Scorsese think about Tarantino’s claim that he will quit after 10?

Tarantino has said himself, writing has become more and more important to him over the years. So, it makes sense that he can envision himself putting the camera down and focusing much more on writing. As for Scorsese, I think what he says explains it. He’s just too curious to ever stop. That seems to be what it’s about for him. The curiosity. Using the medium and characters to explore the subject matter.

Scorsese downplays his own talent as a screenwriter. He is an extremely talented writer.

I understand the notion of Tarantino stopping with showmanship. But at the end of the day, you make movies because you love doing it. He shouldn't care so much about his "Body of work." Just make them, have fun doing them, and prepare for the next one.

Exactly this. If a movie could be great, and Tarantino is passionate about it, why limit himself over a numerical number? Hell, he ALREADY has done 10 movies! You would have to count Kill Bill 1 and 2 as one movie for his next film to be number 10.

@@bisnu548 That would make sense. But then again it must have at least been ‘good’ for Tarantino to decide to make it his final movie, do all the pre production, casting, then only pulling out at the last minute.

I get the impression Tarantino doesn't enjoy directing that much. He'd rather write and maybe occasionally produce -- possibly in TV in addition to or instead of film.

@@ednicholson7839 I don’t buy it. Yes “he’d rather write” but do you really think he’ll let someone else direct a script he’s passionate about? Unless he dies before 70, I don’t believe number 10 will be his last.

Thank goodness that, not only is every word he says printed onto the screen, but that each exact word Scorsese says is highlighted in a red box exactly when he says it. Magnificent. Truly wonderful. Otherwise, I would forget how to hear words and process their meanings. If only there were a red box around the word "clickbait" somewhere.

@@DerMoerpler C'mon, don't straw man what I said. The concept you touch upon is sound and valid, but there also exists a CC button that performs this task on demand if needed, optionally. The point I was making, that you ignored completely, was the style choice of the original video edit to condescend to the audience by adding unnecessary "flair" to try and put lipstick on a pig.

Not really its exactly what it says, which is really interesting actually. I completely forgot Scorcese doesn't even know how to write a script he just directs. Quentin writes, directs and does cinematography sometimes. It is a really different process so 10 is really not that unreasonable.

Repetition had nothing to do with it and you could argue his last few movies didn't even look like your typical Tarantino movies. He could make another From Dusk Till Dawn, Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs with the same identical script, actors but different plot and it would still be amazing. The issue is modern actors are garbage and most people working in the Hollywood now are parasites. There is no talent to make a good movie anymore and Tarantino knows it...
