this is a quick explanation of what the brake hold button is, and how it works. If you own a newer Honda and I've seen this button this is a quick explanation of how this feature works.

Thank you for making the video. I experienced this yesterday. I will have to suggest a new video. This happened to me yesterday while on drive thru. The light turned red on the parking break and released the break and it would not release. I panicked and could not set it to drive. I turned off the car instead. That was my only option at that point. I followed the process to take the break off and I was finally able to drive. Ugh… I’m at whataburger. It’s imperative I get my dinner and keep the line moving 😜 Nissan smh 🤦🏻‍♀️

This feature is also great if the road is slippery, like ice and snow, and you stop on a slope. You're less likely to lose traction when you start to drive, because the brakes hold just in time for the automatic transmission to engage. The car will not roll backwards, causing the wheels to spin.

Usually in cars with automatic transmission (with no brake hold), if one stops car with drive mode engaged and press brake - it puts pressure on both clutch and brake pads. Is it also same in case of brake hold? If that's the case, would it be still better to just shift to neutral to keep clutch and brake pads relaxed? Thanks

What about the brake lights? With brake hold on & stopped, then I press the gas to move slowly move forward about 2-3 feet…do the brake lights turn off once I step on the gas? Also I noticed while in a drive-thru while brake hold is on, when stopped & then moving forward a few feet & stop again, all I do is lift off the gas & the car stops.

Does the parking break make a swishing sound outside the car when you engage it and disengage it? Is that normal? If you are stopped using the brakes won't cause wear the rotor must actually be spinning to cause wear to the pad it will cause the same wear as just using the brakes normally it just allows you to not have to hold the pedal while stopped

I have a 2020 CRV. How do you get the Brake Hold to automatically be activated when you start your car? I don't want to have to press the button each time I start my car. Also, my CRV defaults to having the engine turn off each time I come to a complete stop. I know I can press the button to deactivate it, but how can I get it set up to not be on when I start my car? Thanks.

I have it on my 6-speed manual 2018 Civic Sedan EXT. And I rarely need or use it, even facing up a steep hill at a stop. I'm good enough with the accelerator and clutch that I can start out from a dead stop up a steep hill without the car drifting backwards much, maybe just an inch or so. Starting from a dead stop facing uphill has been the bane of inexperienced stick shift users since the early 20th century. People get scared because they are afraid of not getting it right when time to let out the clutch and give it gas and stalling the car out, killing the engine. Or worse yet, allowing the car to drift backwards too far and hit the car behind them. But I've been driving sticks since I was 6 years old on a farm in the 1960s!! I can handle a clutch car just fine.
