One more adjective to describe this aged white dew white tea: buttery. When the leaves are hot, it smells buttery, almost like a croissant. When the leaves are cool, it smells fruity. The taste is fairly mild, but more buttery than fruity in my opinion. Very little fruitiness in the taste to me. Out of the several teas I ordered, the two white teas I got have been the weakest in terms of taste & effect. Still good quality teas, but I don’t think I would buy another white tea over something else.

Something ive wondered for a while is certain white teas have this cherry sour candy type of flavor especially if theyre aged teas. Its the kind i like the most but i always get it by chance because i have no clue what area or processing is more likely to have those sour fruity flavors opposed to the more toned down crisp floral ones. Anything to look for specifically to have more chance of that type of flavor? Thanks!

Asked my brother for a full cake of the 2011 for my birthday. In return I'll get him his dalstrong carving knife. Brothers that help each other delve into their hobbies are good brothers... Plus we both love meat and tea so win, win!

Is there a good way to "learn" how to taste white teas? Context is I think my American taste buds have been so overly saturated with excessively flavored things like soda and Gatorade over the years I mostly just taste hot water with the white teas I've tried.

You can either up the ratio of tea to water, (which can also raise tannin levels making you mouth more fuzzy and dry) or you can begin the practice of treating tea as a ritual and meditation, sit and TRY to taste the flavors of the tea.

Yummy!! I have some wonderful silver needle tea I'm drinking at the moment. It's sort of fruity and herbal to me...but I'm in no way an expert.

I have an Anji white tea (needle shaped) and it doesn’t taste like anything even at 175 degrees F, 100ml, 1.5 minute steep for 3g of tea. Is it indicative of poor quality?

I have a question, if you wouldn't mind answering. Tea is only tea if made from the leaves of the tree you already showed. Can I apply the same process applied on these leaves to leaves of other trees (given they're safe to consume) and make "tea"?
