I'm in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, here the grid has major problems, the power and water goes out constantly. I take care of a special needs brother, I prepare for him, so I built my own power and water infrastructure, I also prepare for hurricanes and economic collapse.

We just came through another hurricane, and we didn't have to do anything to prepare! We already were prepared! I love that not only do we not need to fear, we can go out and help others. We dont have to wait in long lines for water or gas. We dont throw out a fridge-full of food. We did have to do without AC, which is tough. But otherwise, peace of mind.

Preparing for job loss n yep my son lost his job 4 months ago and we've been living on my stock. I live on Social Security n that pays the bills. So I'm Proud of myself being a Prepper 😊 Y'all have a good n Blessed Weekend

When I first got my autoimmune disease and suddenly couldn’t walk (it happened within the span of a few days, it was that quick!), I realized that my prepping wasn’t nearly what it needed to be. As in, I needed to also prep for any event which may leave me unable to get around, I was housebound for months until the meds were all sorted out and I regained my mobility. It made me realize that any illness or accident also had to be prepped for. That means a different take on how to prepare meals, how to get food and other necessities, etc., even where to store food, under the bed doesn’t work when you can’t get down there to retrieve things. Or rather, I could get down there but I sure wasn’t going to get up again if I did. I feel that my preps became so much better after my illness set in because mobility was something I had not considered before. Oh, this includes water storage too. A gallon of water does you no good if you suddenly can’t lift it. I still keep gallons, but I also keep cases of bottles too now. For those living alone like me, please consider accessibility if an illness or accident would occur. Of course a good community will help, but consider what if the community can’t get there to help you? Anyway, as far as what I’m preparing for, mostly hurricanes or other such events (being in Florida) but also for mobility issues, as well as (being limited income) financial issues too. Every little bit of prepping helps! Thank you for all that you do. You are very much appreciated.

We try to prepare for whatever comes along. We already survived quite a few things in our 53 years of marriage. Job loss, financial set backs, disabling injuries, and many more.

Prepping for months like this one. We had a few unexpected expenses at the beginning of the month. Once a month paychecks aren’t fun when that happens. We were able to cover the expenses but there is t money leftover for the groceries. No biggie! We’re eating pantry meals. Getting creative with cooking. Making things from scratch. It’s the middle of the month And the pantry isn’t bare! We’re doing okay! No one is hurting for anything. We have what we need and we’ll be okay! This is why we’re prepping. This is what we have preps for. The unexpected. The times that make you stretch.

Because we love each other is important! So many people are becoming withdrawn and more of a me society! People are angry more today than other time I have witnessed in my lifetime we need to really reach out and share kindness now more than ever. Thanks for sharing your views and ideas !

Our winters can be brutal with raging snow, ice storms, and -30 degree windchills. As retired folks, we don't *have* to get out in that weather - so I stock up extra for winter months. And we knew we were going to retire so we stocked up on essentials while we had regular paychecks coming in. When lockdowns hit we really were fine. It might've been 3-6 months between my trips to the grocery store. Ok, yes, hubs went once month and often picked up things like fresh produce but supply line shortages didn't impact us. We've been putting back little bits of this and that since 2013, and it's just habit now plus our garden is producing heavily so the freeze dryer and canner have been working. Husband and I separately experienced times of extreme food deprivation over the years. I can't explain how good it feels to have extra food on the shelves.

I just went through my "go" bags (I have two) and found almost everything needed to be replaced (over the counter meds and other things) I think I packed it in 2020 and had not updated it since. My suggestion is if you have a go bag, go through it every six months...things go out of date and your needs change.

I get my olive oil and honey from Israel. Their products agree with my body. With all of the unrest going on, it's hard to come by. So when I can, I get more than I would, normally! Life is, and always will be full of ups and downs. Be full of joy when they are up and use that time, to breathe, restock, and refresh, for the times like now, when they are down. Just keep your heart FULL of joy! Praise the Lord in all things! Even when it doesn't appear to be going very well....We can't see the whole picture. HE CAN! 😊😊

"What are you preparing for?" It is indeed _the_ critical question. It seems to me that you are both working towards the same goal. How to keep your family safe and your household working to the best of your ability. As finite humans we cannot prepare for 100% of everything all the time. But we can make some good guesses. And having two trusted and complimentary viewpoints is so important for success. Great video! Thanks for making and posting it!

We like the lists you two talked about. We both were raised with a "storage for two years" mentally so it's been very easy for us to continue that pattern... we've taught or kids to think the same way. When I was about 15 our house burned down, it was tough for our family and starting over was a challenge...but with awesome neighbors and our church family we got the things we really needed again. Being a prepared family was important and showed us how to help others when they are in need.

I bought milk, yogurt, bananas, and eggs today and the cost was $19.18. I looked up my little 3 bedroom ranch on Zillow, and the estimate was over 670K. I don't know how people can afford anything! Prep on!

I'm prepping for what I'd call "birth pains". Jesus is coming soon and His Word states that He will call His church home before "the worst" happens. However, I have no idea what minor calamities I'll have to go through before that day, hence "birth pains". Stay safe, eyes open, no fear. Greetings to any fellow SO's following this channel.

Like Kylene, I like to be as comfortable as possible. In fact, I don’t even like to be inconvenienced. I’m preparing so I can live as normally as possible if there’s a hurricane, a power outage, civil unrest, or even if my preferred grocery store runs out of my favorite coffee or chocolate.

I can answer this without watching the video... I'm preparing for the calamity. "What Calamity?", you may ask. The "Unforeseen Calamity", that may occur tomorrow, next week, next month, or next year. I don't know the nature of this Calamity... Illness, pandemic, war, civil disobedience, flood, financial distress... You name it, I'm prepared (?) for it. Are my preps perfect? No. Are they complete? No, not that neither. Is there more to do? (Sigh,😞😞😞), yep sooo much MORE. Will I ever be finished? Nope, but I have a WHOLE lotta fun doing it!! Good luck everyone, keep prepping!!

I am preparing for all of the things you both mentioned. It really came in handy on April 8th this year when I had all 4 of my granddaughters for the Solar Eclipse. We were just hanging out and getting ready to go outside to watch the eclipse and my oldest granddaughter who is 11 years old cut her foot really bad on my back door. It happened so fast we have no idea how she did it but she had blood running down her foot bad. I looked at it and she had a 5 inch slash on her foot. Since I was prepared I was able to treat her medically here at home. It would have been a nightmare at that point to have to take her to the hospital. Taking the younger 3 kids along would not have went well either and all of us would have missed the eclipse. I was so glad I had the proper things to clean and treat her foot and wrap it up. She was very surprised and happy too.

Great video. "Bugging in", pretty much all disasters result in the same levels of preparedness. A few exceptions being: evacuation, getting home after a disaster. Our tornado plan is different than our hurricane plan, just as our house fire plan differs. They all involve avoiding the masses and chaos, staying in shape, storing supplies, and practicing those skills. Running drills to find flaws and correct. Our way isn't the only way.

I was expecting a different direction from the title, but I think you guys nailed it. A prepper mindset is trying to prepare for eveything, from the mundane to the most severe situations. I try to prepare for everything in general….. kinda like our parents(I’m old lol) & grandparents. Two years ago I had several issues that I encountered which prevented me from going into town for several months. Thank God that I was stocked to where I was ok. Thank you for another great video!

I am a general purpose prepper. Yes, things are going down the tubes fast. I agree. But no one can tell exactly how and when that will happen. Therefore I try to prep for a wide spectrum of things. At least I'll be better off than most, and I can help my family and so live with honor under God.

Respect, knowing why and what you are preparing for is half of the struggle we all face. My family is prepared for “Revelation”: money’s no good (gold, silver and jewelry thrown in the streets in exchange for bread), everyone submits to the one world government and their controlling “Mark” (not us). No sunlight, no support you must have the things you need to survive at least 7 years and be able to help others and exchange services for the things desired.

On fixed income, you better buy now or pay more later. The best case scenario is that you will just eat your pantry. The worse case is you won't starve if something really bad happens.

I've been doing this on and off for the last 2 years. Ultimately my goal is to have a least a one year supply. I buy 2 or more of an item when it is on sale. This has been a good way for me to go without to much expense all at once.

Another great video! As we get older and live through things like 9/11, Financial Crash of 2008, witness Catrina, Witness the Texas freeze out, and then the Chinese virus, we must acknowledge that anything can happen. Thanks to our families level of preparedness, we were able to survive through some and thrive in other situations. As we continue our pursuit to be even more prepared, the looming possibilities are not as terrifying. As commodity prices fluctuate, our personal storeroom helps us to time the best buying horizons which is a major plus.

Sounds about right. My wife didn't really fight me on most of my purchases. As long as it has a long shelf life and we actually use it (eventually), there are no issues. Currently, I would like to build a solar battery/generator platform of sorts, even if it is only enough to feed some lights. I will settle for the garden lighting though (you can always repurpose it).

You guys are so fortunate to have each other in agreement with your prepping reasons. I can only imagine what it is like to be on the same page with your spouse and to discuss your prepping with each other's support like the two of you can. My husband is not a prepper and we can't talk about why I prep. I have been the one to do all the prepping - financial, defense, food, medical, gardening, water supply and the many other areas of prepping. And, as a woman, it has been quite a burden sometimes. Bringing in heavy sheets of plywood and other heavy items would have been so much easier with a little help from a man. So I have to live without the blessing of having a mate to help. However, I know I'm not nearly the only prepper who is married to an anti-prepping spouse. And now is not a good time to consider divorce due to all the craziness going on in our country and world right now. I don't need that type of distraction. I enjoyed your video and thank-you.

Historically, I prepped for seasonal events (heat, cold, uncontrolled water events ...). Then transportation loss or job loss headed my list. Now I look at Personal Health issues, Inflationary impacts, Governmental intrusion (into land use or animal raising or energy bans ... The thing of note here is that as each new criteria headed my list, the previous items remain and their priority is re-evaluated not dropped off the list.

Beryl has been a real teacher this week. I practice for different scenarios, and living in Texas will throw curve balls like with the great freeze of Valentines 2021. I got through that one unscathed and without power for a week, but only because I had been raised on a remote farm in Indiana. I knew instinctively what to do. This was my first storm using a Jackery. My daughter borrowed my Jackery in May when Houston lost power for 4 days. It has been a blessing twice now. I am now on day 5 of no power. I was initially taking my 40 pound 1000 watt plus Jackery to charge at the senior center 4 times a day. I am now down to 2 times a day and that second time is taking me less time as I have not depleted as much of the battery. I am learning how to divide up the wattage per device, time necessary and leisure activities. The first couple of days were rough, but now I have protocols and it is getting to be old hash. I've got this! What I don't have is the ability to stop helping other people who either have not or cannot financially prepare for these now COMMON dilemmas. I have met people in need that I would've never met under normal circumstances. I don't think Beryl has been a bad thing...for me. I am walking away with some valuable lessons, some thank you, Lords for my new roof & last year's tree removals, and a list of things I want to get to make the next time easier and less of a hassle. I am preparing for the inevitable, and just like Beryl weeded out the weakest trees, I am weeding out the insufficient plans of yesterday. I am putting a whole new crop of plans into place, and budgeting for my family's comfort. I am also building a social network that was weak last week, but much stronger now by bring in new people- some that I will help and others that will help me. Our town is different this week, I hope it doesn't go back to the old...but you know it will. It is like the turbulent Gulf of Mexico, guided by the winds and troughs.

Kylene and Johnathan: I live in a community where there are a lot of multifamily rental units. Some are month to month and others are leased, but it is really difficult to build community when the neighbors are in a rotating door situation, where the person that is here today many be gone in a month or a few months. I have a few neighbors that own their homes, but mostly keep to themselves and don't want to be bothered by their neighbors. I can understand this to a point, they are busy with their own lives and families. I am cordial to my neighbors, but if something bad ever happened, I would need to locate relatives that live miles away to get any kind of help. That is why I prep, to take care of our families most immediate needs in an emergency situation.

Our Costco had a major Freon leak a couple days ago…..They had to quickly evacuate….and we have no idea what will happen to all the contents, when it will reopen, etc. I shop there “all the time” so I’m thankful I have plenty from there already. It is a REAL eye opener how something can happen in a second!

It is good to have different perspectives - so you can cover different bases without overlap. One focusing on disruptions to daily life to keep everything running smoothly, and one more focused on big event disruptions. I think the everyday community side is essential - you need to be living the life today that will keep you going tomorrow. Thinking 'when it all goes wrong, we'll do community stuff' is way, way too late - the community needs to be there today, so it is automatically there tomorrow. This is hard to establish, as it takes a bit of effort that many aren't willing to give when times are 'easy'. Good vid.

Iv been preparing for shortages of anything and everything including money but it's.very difficult when one has limited cash and when there is no cooperation.family members mock and tease but on a limited income your monthly groceries are also limited so I believe in taking extra items like things u dnt use everyday.for instance first aid items like ointment and plasters etc.i believe in having a backup in case of any emergency.so far I have built up quite a stock of tins etc but one can never get it all.unless you have enough money but.seems to me most people don't even bother to prepare

I don't normally include most of the first few things that you mentioned in my own "Emergency Preparedness" process... BUT, I love that you included them in this video because those are so important to everyday common sense living, and often we see many Americans just not preparing for everyday life. So, great items to add to the list! I agree that prepping can buffer the supply chain issues. But only if they are short term. In all honesty, many of us don't have a farm where we can be self-reliable for food if a "big" or "long term" event occurs. We need to improve the supply chain for everyone not just for the survival basics, but manufacturing in general. And not just "equipment", but medicines and food as well. To the Manufacturing geniuses out there, If you want to be part of the solution, please build Locally, and responsibly.

We started prepping after an f5 tornado left us without power in north Alabama for a week.

I'm more like she is - self-reliance and the ability to control my environment/food/finances. But I hope my preps help me thru those situations I haven't yet thought of.

I prepare for power outages and dehydrate my foods from my garden. I know basic first aid but I really wish that I knew more.

Realistically, I can't prepare in every area all at once, but if I choose the most likely scenarios (for me it's power outages, ice storms, cost of food, and upcoming job loss), at least I'll have peace of mind knowing those specific possibilities are covered. For the less-likely scenarios, I can probably cobble together something from what I already have on hand. But I need to focus my energy/resources on what's most likely. I have a question for you, though, that maybe you could address in a video sometime: When the emergency comes, I find myself reluctant to use my preps. I don't want to open those mylar bags or watch my supplies dwindle, even though that's what they are there for, because I'm not sure at what point it will be difficult/impossible to replace them. My adult son moved back home and I'm watching my year's supply disappear a lot quicker than I'd anticipated... At what point do you let yourself acknowledge it's time to use those preps? And what if they're being used faster than I can replace them?

Hi Folks, I do not normally comment on any social media but I need to here. We have been preparing for any emergency that pops up. I learned this from my Mom and Dad 60+ years ago. I got sick with depression which was hard fo an Alpha type individual. We were comfortable for 2.5 years as we adapted to our new normal and live on our preps and my wife's income as a school bus driver. My wife has been a God send and grew up poor in Appalachia and had the same mindset as me. Now our climate change, economy, and political strife all over the world has made it imperative for us to prepare and help others to do the same.. I have now looked into cash purchasing extra medications from Canada since there were shortages during the pandemic (disease/pestilence) that affected us. It's not going to happen again if I can help it

Here in Australia people who have retired go on a trip around Australia with a caravan. In the US they stay at home and stock up on huge quantities of baked beans iand wait for the world to end.

For those who have done sufficient research like myself, we're preparing for the end of modern life as you know it and all of its comforts, permanently. This is accompanied by all sorts of horrific technologies and weapons designed to disable, control, and unalive us, including those you may be familiar with the past few years (hint: injectables). Even then, the fate of dissidents like us is likely sealed quite quickly. For example, go look at what was done this year to the residents of Lahaina Maui. Going rural won't save you and neither will an imaginary divine being

Bottom line, there is absolutely nothing we can feel perfectly comfortable with in " planning for " planning for is a component of the fear mechanism and walks hand in hand with the addiction mechanism. The best "planning for" strategy is to depart from fear, it is an imposter, and a distracter from intelligent thinking. Sure you can do this or that, but this or that will in no way prepare you for the multitudes of this and thats coming and here now. It is in my nature to prep, but prepping wont stop 99% of those things I cannot control. Right now we are in the first stage of the collapse of an Empire, there is much more to come. Better to embrace both Life and Death one day you will learn that this is what has been happening to you since you born, living and dying daily, and in learning that life and death are the same, you won't be so scared and always planning for the next event, which by the way happens every single day. For instance The United States of America has been in endless War since before the Country was born. Keep you wrapped in fear, been happening for 5000 years. My answer is whatever comes next. Gandolf says we have to decide what to do with the time we have...! I put my husband through three degrees and that higher income sure has been helpful. But first we had to learn to be poor students. And after live on unemployment of $735.30 a month in 2004. The state didnt paying into unemployment for students, it was based on one summer job! And we didnt qualify for food stamps our car was two years old! Good thing our bills were only the basics and we had stocked necessities especially consumables like cleaners, food and toiletrires. He got a job. We haven't had a car payment since 2005 and it was awesome to buy a car and have the cash 33ish months ago. Then we needed two, 2/3rds of our marriage we've been a one car family. I had health challenges and could barely stand or walk. We've had unexpected bills! We had t.p. during covid. We've learned how to be comfy too, not just needs met and it doesn't take much more. Our water heater died and we had savings to pay for it and an induction burner to heat water and a camp shower! So we bought Waterbricks, we'd thought we may have to haul water from a river. This year pipes broke. We had water we hadn't rotated in years. So glad we just started solutions. That water gave us days of flushing away from broken pipes. And the Waterbricks made water easier to haul! Starting gives peace of mind. I've learned I can skip stress and think about what we are going to do next.

Economic collaps. The Government has been printing money out of thin air for decades now. Not a wise thing to do I think. Prices will rise enormously, before inflation goes out of controle. Just my two cents ;-)

I love your channel! I’ve been binge watching all day! Since 2020 I have “woken” up. My husband is slower, but we are finally on the same page. I know without a doubt that something significant is about to happen in our country. At this time I do not think it’ll be WW3 although I think it will look that way. Personally I think the “enemy” is already in our country. I’ll call them “cells”. My question is this: we have neighbors and they are NOT prepared. I’ve tried to tell them and they just don’t care. They drink a lot and do drugs. We just built a privacy fence and added a drive way gate to keep them and others out. I’m worried that if something happens they will panic. And I do not want them here. And what if these cells go door to door? There is safety in numbers but I don’t know if they would be reliable. We are thinking that they would eventually become a problem over time. Any ideas?
