9-Arches-Bridge in Demodera, Ella, Sri Lanka The most frequented tourist Location I passed while conquering the 300 km long Pekoe Trail thru Sri Lanka. I had the chance to stay with some local families in Lunuwatte, Haputale, Bogawantalawa and in estate worker settlements outside from Ella and in Dayagama. The best way to learn something about the real life and living situation of the rich and the poor in Sri Lanka. Life is so hard, especially for the tamil families living in the tea estates. Living from 3$ or less as day laborer means poverty, malnutrition, inadequate sanitation and medication, poor access to drinking water, inadequate schooling, child labor in the household.

Maybe someone should talk about the abject poverty of the poor in Sri Lanka😢

Last time we visited SL was before their start of civil war in 1982 (to till 7-8yrs ago), then Isis church& Hotel bombings, then Covid19, then SL people protest against Rajbakse Brothers Presidents over collapsed economy, etc, etc, although we've been wanting to visit SL for long time to till now, Your interviews give some interesting view of current SL thx for that, also from the backgrounds, SLk seem even cleaner& nicer too + much more tourists seeable too. Did u know the original Aryan or Yamnaya people moved from steppe region (near Ukraine) to Kazakhstan in ~2500-2000Bce before moving from Kazakhstan to India, Iran, Mid East, Europe etc around 1900-1000Bce where they admix with all locals everywhere to create current people of these vast # of countries.

Many a times I have met Tourists/Visitors in Kandy Town looking for Rest rooms (Bathrroms) ! Srilankan major cities lack decent clean (Western style) & otherwise ! I direct them to a fairly decent hotel/restaurant or if they are reluctant to have a cup of tea & then make your request ! In Colombo it's Rs: 40/= to use filthy urine smelling bathroom & in Kandy Rs: 20/= 😭🤮
